You should be able to find the relevant option in the app's settings

On your Android device, follow these steps:

    1. Tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
    2. Select "Settings"
    3. Select “Clear Cache”

Once this is done then please ensure you log out of the Dropbox application, then restart your device and log back in again.

I have used Dropbox with Excel for many years now but starting today when I try to open an excel spreadsheet through Dropbox (this is on my phone. Samsung Galaxy S22) I get a message saying the following:
    Dropbox Update Required
To open this file, please update your Dropbox app.

It has been updated. I have reinstalled the app and I'm still getting the same problem. If I open excel and navigate to my Dropbox file I am able to open and edit the file this way but I would prefer my original way of doing it if I could be guided to a fix. Thank you in advance.

Can't open word* documents from my Dropbox app, android. Microsoft word app starts but can't open the file, gives error message "Dropbox update required. To update this file please update your Dropbox app"

I was on the beta app, there was no update available. So I left beta, and uninstalled. Then I installed regular Dropbox, and got the same error

Hi hmafooz, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you confirm the exact version of Android OS and the Dropbox mobile app on your device?

This will help me to assist further!

Hi stephenbigcuddles, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

In order to understand what you're seeing, could you attach a screenshot showing this error?

What types of files are you trying to open? What version of Android OS and the Dropbox mobile app are you running?

This will help me to assist further!

Do you have the Word and Excel apps installed on your mobile device, which are required in order to edit those files?

I have version 326.2.4 Dropbox app on my android phone. All of a sudden, every time I want to open something from the Dropbox app into Word, I get a message that I need to update the Dropbox app. I still have plenty of space in my free account, and don't want to upgrade. I do not see anywhere to UPDATE (not upgrade) the app. Can someone help?

Hey there Luckystar1952 , thanks for flagging this with us.

Could you please clear the app's cache and let us know if this persists?

If it does, I'd appreciate a screenshot too.

Thanks. I did that and it worked. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23+. Seems like the issue affected all Samsung users.
