Is there a way to run the Dropbox app in the background on my iPhone?
Hey everyone, I just switched to an Android from an iPhone. I am facing a feature problem that I loved on my iPhone! Which is, if I open up an audio file from my dropbox app I can just do other stuff on my phone. On android however, it stops playing whenever I switch over to a different app. Is there a way to let it run in the background just like the iPhone? Thanks!
Memory leak in the mobile app on Android
Hi, I am using dropbox an various devices (Windows, Mac, iOS, iPadOS and Android). I prefer to keep all contents offline available, so I activated these options. Right now, there is around 16 GB of data kept in my dropbox space. I rarely delete files. In most cases, existing files are updated or some new files are added. There's no problem on Windows, Mac, and Apple mobile devices. On iPhone and iPad, the app needs about 17,x GB memory, that sounds okay. When updating or changing files, the memory consumption on iPhone and iPad changes as expected, depending on the changed files. However, this isn't the case an Android devices. Here, the memory consumption keeps growing and growing. I made a test, at the same time I deleted and re-installed the apps both an Apple and Android devices from scratch. Downloaded all files again and made them available offline. After some weeks, memory consumption on the Apple devices is rather constant and within an expected range, still around 17.x GB. While on my Android tablet, the app uses 28 GB. And on my Android phone, it needs 22 GB. Is this a known issue? Why does the Dropbox Android App need so much more memory, and why is it growing and growing? My only solution is, to clear and re-install the apps everyone 1-2 months.
Cannot link my Android phone due to reaching device limit, but I have a paid plan
I have the Plus account with 2TB and unlimited devices. My Android phone says I reached the limit of 3 devices. How do I contact Dropbox support to fix the issue? The page where I can submit the problem does not allow me to type my problem. Actually, Dropbox apps think that my plan is Basic sometimes. I am in a catch-22 situation. I need help to recognize my Plus plan but to get help Dropbox must recognize my Plus status first. I do pay - they collect my money.
Make offline files visible in the android filesystem
I think you should make files stored offline on Android available in the file system. As it is now, the dropbox files marked as 'available offline' are hidden from the rest of the operating system. This gives a number of problems: 1: When opening a file in an app, that app may put the file path in its 'most recently used documents'-list. However, since the path it gets from the Dropbox-app is not long-lived, the 'most recently used documents'-list becomes unusable, since the links on it become dead rather quickly. 2: It makes using browsing apps, like photo viewers or podcast players, on your offline files impossible. 3: Some apps expect content to be found on the file system. For example, the samsung app used to download content onto a samsung smart watch, expects to find files in the file system. It cannot be used to download files from dropbox onto the smart watch. 4: Sometimes a smart phone is used a bit like a computer. Like uploading files to an FTP-server and the like. A FTP-client typically expects to find files on the file system, and allows them to be selected and uploaded. This does not work with Dropbox. A possible work-around is to export the contents from the dropbox offline folder onto the phones regular file system. This is unsatisfactory because: 1) It feels cumbersome. The number of clicks to send a podcast episode to a smart watch, or to download a .pdf from dropbox and upload to an FTP-server, becomes a few too many. 2) For files which can be edited (like password manager saves, various profiles, text documents etc), the user needs to remember to copy the file back to Dropbox, which is very error prone. Dropbox obviously already has technology to synk a file system folder with dropbox. Could not this functionality be offered on smart phones also?

I got a new phone (Samsung s24 Plus) and can't get Dropbox passwords to work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times. I keep getting this screen. Closing the app doesn't make it go away. When I close the app and reopen it the same screen is still there.App sidebar gone out of the blue on Android?
Why did my Dropbox Android app sidebar disappear literally while I was editing a document and how do I get it back? I tried dragging from the left side, closing and reopening the app, no sidebar. It was there literally moments ago, and Google Play says the app hasn't updated in 4 days. 😕
