Dropbox Capture screen recording skips and buffers upon playback
When I do a screen recording using Dropbox Capture (v94.0.3), the resulting video skips and buffers upon playback. It's unwatchable. I have tried waiting for the full video to load before playing it - that does not help. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox Capture - that doesn't help. Cleared my cache too, that didn't fix it. I'm using Windows 11 on a PC, and other screen recording software does not do this (Loom, the native Microsoft screen record software, etc). The capture feature works just fine for still images so there is only a problem with screen recording. I've been using Dropbox Capture for a few months since it was in beta--this was not a problem about a month ago. Anyone have a solution?

It's happening with anything I record. The Dropbox Capture sits in my windows tray - when I take any screen record with it, I get these skips. I tried recording something in Google Chrome, and just now I tried recording my desktop. Same skipping / buffering.

Do you have any other apps that could be running at the same time and affecting the performance of the app during its recording?

I have the same problem. Capture v97.6.0. Windows Laptop with evo i7. MS Edge browser. Have done two screen recordings and the audio is very much messed up.
- jsondergExplorer | Level 4I didn’t try another browser on the PC. I suggest Dropbox performs testing.

Hello Folks,
i got a new PC after 12 years with an Nvidia GTX 4600 Graphics Card. I just name it because i dont know it its needed. I also switched from Windows 10 to 11.
Since i did this i have problems recording with Dropbox Capture. Im trying different settings for hours and at least i remember one of our clients used some other service (loom) and tryed this to test it out.
It seems with this i dont have any problems. But i dont wanna use it. I want use Dropbox, we pay for the storage anyways.
If i record something (Chrome and less in Firefox) sometimes my audio recording is like stuttering, swallow some seconds or parts of the word and also with video. Sometimes its only half a word, sometimes its a few seconds. It feels like it happens more if the browser is using Hardware Acceleration. Also the record in the browser is showing some reloading button in the missing parts (and my internet ist fast enough).
But i test all settings and also did memorys tests and at least didnt have the problems with the competition tool.
Is that a known problem? Is there something i can test?
Greetings

Hi there, HG19911, welcome to our Community!
You mentioned that this happens mainly in Chrome, and less in Firefox.
Have you made sure you're using the updated version on both browsers? Have you tried clearing the browser's cache, by any chance?
I know this sounds trivial, but it can make a great difference. As for the Hardware Acceleration, that's interesting. Do you use it in both Chrome & Firefox?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Hello Megan,
i'm working in IT and made sure all is up to date. Also i found this:
It seems this is a known problem for more then 1 year. It would be very nice if the dropbox team could do some research fix this issue. I cant go back to windows 10 for one single program because they cant update their app.
Greetings
Henry

I have the same issue on all three of our laptops. It worked fine - then they updated something and now none record audio properly. Its garbled. Its not our browser - it happens in Edge and Chrome on different machines. There is nothing else running at the time.
