I became aware that my Dropbox app stopped synchronizing two days ago. After trying several things I did an advanced de-install. Then installing again with the 'offline installer'. The normal one didn't work, because it said there was no internet connection. The connection was all the time established and even with the firewall off, it didn't work. The app is now installed, but still tries to make a connection. I found a lot of posts with connection problems, but nothing helped to me. Please advice.72Views0likes7CommentsI can't sign in to my Dropbox Windows app.
It was available until yesterday lunchtime I don't know what's going on, it's out of sync and keeps saying it's starting up This happens not only on my laptop, but also on other synchronized devices. I don't have any security programs or firewalls, and I've tried reinstalling them, but they don't work. I can still access Dropbox through the internet site. What should I do?6Views0likes1CommentWindows Server 2019: LTS App Still Shows Unsupported OS Message
I'm using Dropbox on Windows Server 2019, and recently it stopped working, saying, "Support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 has ended." They provided a link to download a "Long-Term Support" app, but after installing it, I’m still getting the same message, and it won’t launch. Has anyone else experienced this? It's frustrating, especially since I already installed the recommended LTS app. Any advice or workarounds?293Views4likes18CommentsThe Dropbox desktop application will no longer be supported for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 on October 22nd
Congratulations Dropbox! You've just put the nail in the coffin of all W7 users who prefer not to be spied on and constantly used for data scraping! Well done. If the constant scaremonger nagging about running out of space, the constant begging to upgrade, the incessant app updating demands, the constant USB device interrogation upon connection wasn't enough of an incentive to finally ditch Dropbox for good, then the cutting off of users of a still perfectly good and functional, non-spyware infested OS will be the last straw. Thank you Dropbox for giving me the incentive to go to your competitors instead and get out of your ever more bloated crapware ecosystem. Sometimes, people need a little push to get away from what's comfortable and familiar, even though they suspect just how bad that relationship is for them. I thank you Dropbox for giving me this little push. Goodbye.5.9KViews7likes19CommentsDropbox update pop-up keeps re-appearing on Windows 11
Help I'm losing my mind I now have 7 pop-ups asking me to install the latest update to Dropbox last month this happened I went to Dropbox/ download reinstalled the entire thing after I uninstalled it and while that solved the issue temporarily it's back again after a new update was released what it looks like is almost a virus but it's not I'll show you the installer screens and they appear to be issued by Dropbox I don't think you can fake that but I'm not 100% sure I have scanned for viruses just as an FYI but since there's no way to reach out to actual Dropbox and tell them that we're experiencing this bug on Windows PC specifically windows 11 its is requesting UAC I say yes ad it will popup again625Views2likes3CommentsHow can I connect an existing Dropbox folder to my new Windows desktop app?

This is a repost of an issue I posted 7 months ago, when it first got on my nerves. "Dropbox Sync errors on Windows Search folder " The reply I got just fobbed me off, saying others haven't reported it - which may be true, but it doesn't answer the question, or address the issue. So not a good reply, was it? This post askes the same question again, clearly indicates the cause of the problem and suggests a solution. Please note the issue does not rely on any product or service other than Windows Search, the DropBox app and the Dropbox sync process. The problem occurs because Dropbox wrongly treats all data in the Dropbox tree as owned by <username>. It does not allow for folders temporarily created and owned by SYSTEM processes, such as Windows Search. Evidence I have relocated all <username> data files to a separate Data Drive D:, just as OEMs have done since Win XP. This is my Dropbox folder path and its contents (on a Win 11 box, tho' this is irrelevant) D:\Users\<username>\DropBox 'owner <username> Folder1... 'owner <username> Folder2... 'owner <username> Search 'owner SYSTEM Data 'owner SYSTEM Temp 'owner SYSTEM USGTHRSVC 'Read Permission is denied to Administrators The Dropbox System Tray window currently reports 46 Dropbox created issues... the Fix button does nothing to help, as all the error files are System files, not accessible to a normal Admin user Suggested Solution I suggest Sync should ignore any folder owned by SYSTEM, and this issue will disappear. NB It seems wrong in principle to copy SYSTEM owned files to any external system apart from a full imaging process initiated by SYSTEM. The above is 100% reproducible - assuming appropriate valid relocation of the DropBox folder Please test for yourselves and report back here. I await an update of the Dropbox app. I am using 211.4.6008 Spilly8213Views0likes1CommentI'm unable to open Dropbox files on Windows Explorer due to OneDrive brown box icon.
Certain Dropbox files showing on my desktop cannot be opened from Windows Explorer. These files have a little brown overlay on the file icon. Dropbox support tells me this overlay is a One Drive icon and this may be causing a conflict with Dropbox. How can I resolve this (I don't use One Drive, although it is installed on my device).506Views0likes4CommentsI'm getting the message 'DbxSvc Code 281 Error' in the Windows 11 error log
Hello. I've been working on getting my Windows 11 computer more stable. I've noticed in a log of application events there are hundreds of these DbxSvc Code 281 Category 4 errors. Just starting DropBox briefly causes several to appear in the log. What might cause this and is it something that needs fixing? My Dropbox seems to be working normally otherwise.
