New message notifications will not go away
I have several “unread” messages from Dropbox which when opened or marked as read the “2” displayed above the icon will not go away. The marked as read button does nothing and there appears to be no way to delete the messages ? Using app on new iPad Pro.
- I ended up removing App from iPhone and reloaded it. Bit of a faff but worked
Uninstall and reinstall was the only thing which fixed it.
I have the same issue with Windows 11. It's so annoying because I tried to see if there is any message that hasn't been read or if there is any sync error, and there was none.

In regards to your notification when using your Windows device, can you check which version of the Dropbox application you're using, and what's the sync status at the moment?
You can hover over the Dropbox icon in your task bar, to see this info.

- I am also having this same issue. Noting I do will make it go away. You need to address this bug asap. I don’t want work arounds. I want a solution. I pay for this app so give me my money’s worth.
Having the same problem on my iPhone(iOS 16.3.1, app version 320.3) and my iPad(16.3.1/ 320.3). On the iPad, the stuck notification count is only inside the app. Cleared cache, won’t go away(not deleting and re-adding since I am a free user). But on the iPhone, the notification is on the phone’s Home Screen- really, really annoying and a distraction from *real* notifications.
- I signed out and resigned in. Problem disappeared. But developers have to solve this issue.
Same issue here on the iPadMini 5. The advice from Dropbox to delete and reinstall is NOT helpful. This is clearly a bug that needs to get fixed.

- Exact same issue. There are 4 messages showing as unread. But the notification says it’s 3. Cannot mark as unread.
On my app it shows when I have new unread alerts etc. so I go in and read them but they are still showing unread. I’ve tried all settings but to no avail. The help not is useless. What do I do?

Trying to see how to attach or add screenshots
In Dropbox iPhone app, I have a red circle with a 1 in it on the home page house icon and on the notifications bell icon.
(I used to have one on the icon app on my iPhone home screen, but I got so sick of looking at it without being able to clear it that I turned off badge notifications.)
I have three messages on the DB iPhone that show as unread not matter what I do to "read" them - either by trying to open them or using the "mark all as read" option.
(Curious why the red circle has a 1 when there are 3 unread messages.)
On my DB desktop app, I do not have a red-circle anywhere , and all three of those same messages show as read.
Help please - I'd like to finally clear this irritating and meaningless red circle.

- I have the same issue. Clearing the cache did nothing. I don't even see the message when I tap on it. It just goes to the main screen.
I marked all read & only 1 was marked. They are all the same message about tax time. I can’t get the **bleep** thing to go away, why?????
This is a real pain, came with last update.
- You said it all. This is a major defect with the app. Maybe we should switch off alerts. It’s equivalent to a car alarm that keeps going.
When I directly click on any of the “unread” messages it opens the message and allows me to do nothing else. It does not change it to read or allow me to delete. At the main message window when I click on the three dots and try to “mark all as read” nothing happens.
