Decryption fails running iOS 14.2
Just updated iPhone and iPad to iOS 14.2. Now, trying to open an encrypted file, it tell me "Decryption Failed. Null" If I open with Excel, it works fine. Anyone else having this issue?
I also have success opening an encrypted file within Dropbox after updated 14.4 IOS update. Thanks for everyone's help and input.
- Deacon ArtHelpful | Level 5This problem has been going on ever since 14.2 has broken into the ionosphere. Believe me, no one is listening. So, you can post the problem until the end of the earth and the same tepid relies will be posted.

I am having the same issue..
- NealwaldHelpful | Level 7Unfortunately iOS 14.3 does not fix this issue.

I was on the phone with an Apple senior support tech doing some password protected file testing and we sort of concluded a couple things:
1. Either Apple will come out with a solution in an upcoming iOS release (guess it wasn't 14.3 from what Nealwald just reported
2. It may not be a bug or an accidental change in that it sorta fits within the direction Apple has been going with their OS releases for either mobile devices or desktop/laptops as it pertains to third party apps/programs.
I've already made my work around the standard operating procedure for me but I don't use Dropbox like a lot of you do but would encourge you not to wait for an Apple solution :-0

my iPad mini5 suffers the same problem. My work around is simply by pressing the blue ‘open’ button. That way an excel app can be downloaded from the store (free).

After the last IOS Update I have problems opening Word documentes that are secured with a password. No problem on Macbook but on Iphone and Ipad.
The opening procedure starts but after typing the password and OK it sais:
"Descryption failed (null)"
Any ideas how to solve this?
Thank you very much, Kai

In absence of any proposed fix by Microsoft or Dropbox, the best solution appears to be to open the file with your editor.
So far only way I have found around the problem.

- NealwaldHelpful | Level 7Please take the time to look at this entire thread. This is an iOS 14 (14.3 and below) issue not related to Dropbox. It impacts all MS office password protected files. It appears Apple has no reason to fix this. If you read the full thread you will find simple workaround to open protected files. The simplest solution is to open the file in the appropriate MS app or the iOS ms office app. Either will open your file.

Thanks. I figured out that workaround as well, but it's not particularly convenient. One would hope that Dropbox would eventually fix the problem, since there are probably thousands of people who have encountered it and they're not all likely to run across this dialogue.

This is not a Dropbox issue. It's caused by the iOS 14.2 update that was released recently.

Apple (and Dropbox) still gets "Decryption Failed" on iOS 14.3 password protected files. If Apple doesn't fix "their" problem, will there be a Dropbox fix or work around? Until then, open the document in MS app on you device. That works!
