Cannot establish a secure connection after dropbox update to 111.4.472
After the dropbox app (Window 10) updates itself to the latest 111.4.472 version, I'm getting this 'Cannot establish a secure connection'.
I've checked my time on my laptop, router. It's fine. I've disabled firewalls and the whole Eset Security. I've checked my ports. Everything is fine. I've turned off the proxy setting inside app. Scanned my system for viruses, nothing fount. The only solution is to revert back to the older version, but if I do so, the app will update itself so I'm at the beginning.
I've just received some news that I'd like to share with you all here!
It appears that ESET has fixed the problem that was causing this error.
For anyone running ESET on their device, please update to the most recent version of ESET to update to the software.
Once you've done this, you should be fine to revert back to the latest stable version of the Dropbox desktop app. You can install this from here.
Otherwise, you can just allow the app to auto-update to the latest stable when a new version is released.
Let me know how it goes!

Like many in this discussion, I am receiving an "Incorrect Date / Time secure connection error" on my windows 10 Pro HP Envy laptop. Dropbox app version 111.4.472 Everything was working awesome, then two days ago the error began. I have taken the following steps:
I made sure the proxy is set to no proxy
I set the date and time to auto-update and the date and time, and time zone are correct in both the system tray and the bios.
I temporarily disabled the Windows Defender Firewall and ESET NOD 32 virus protection
I restarted my Xfinity Gateway
I have shut down and restarted the laptop multiple times.
After all of these steps, the issue persists and I am unable to gain a secure connection.
Your help in getting dropbox connected and working normally is greatly appreciated.

Hello Nimo12,
Suprisingly, there are several things that may cause your Windows computer to get the current date and time incorrect.
Steps
- Check to see that your computer displays the correct date, time, and time zone.
- If it does not then check out this Dropbox help article: Errors and Other Messages
- Also, check your Windows clock settings by right clicking the clock on the bottom right side of your task bar and select 'Adjust date/time.'
- You also mentioned that your computer is getting on in years so you may also want to change-out the CMOS battery on your motherboard and then make sure the date and time in your BIOS is correct. (Safety tip: unplug and disconnect all power before working on electronic components; make sure you are well grounded before touching electronic components to prevent damage from static discharge).

It looks like the beta version 112.3.254 corrects this problem.

Hi there! I just realised that my Dropbox has stopped syncronizing two days ago, without apparent reason. I stop and resume the syncronisation but it does not work. There is a warning "impossible to establish a secure Internet connection", but I am using my PC with the same Internet connection. I know a colleague has the same problem. Is it a generalised problem? What can I do to solve it? Thank you!

Walter advice on ESET worked! Great, thx!

Fine. But as others have rightly observed, putting in exclusions from antivirus checks is not a perfect permanent solution. I would hope a new version of DB will quickly be released that will truly solve this thorny problem and we can all go back to being happy DB users once again!

I have the same problem after updating dropbox and I have heard that this is a problem for many users. I hope dropbox will fix this and make corrections in the latest version 111.4.472 of the dekstop app.

Seems to be a known issue wit Dropbox 11.4.472
I have not seen any estimate for a fix
Some messages in the support forum have claimed that the issue is rsolved in the Beta version
If you want to try that, you have to change a profile setting to allow beta versionsI haven't tried that -- Yet

My solution(based on Walter solution) has steps like this:
1) enter advanced ESS settings (press F5)
2) Click Web and Email-> SSL / TSL-> edit
3) Excluded applications-> edit
4) For Dropbox and Dropbox Update, change the mode from automatic to "Skip"
5) restart Dropbox - PetarExplorer | Level 4
Walter advice on ESET worked too. Thanks.
But Dropbox will have to solve this problem in a more general way.

My PC that I previously said that was working fine with Windows 10, Version 10.0.18363, the DropBox has now stopped connecting with the same error.
It has ESET like the other PC.
It was already running DropBox 111.4.472.The only other updates it had taken since then, are:
Discord 0.0.309
Google Chome 87.0.4280.88
Microsoft Edge 87.0.664.57
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 20.013.20074
I'm going to install the Beta DropBox now.
