Google Docs in Dropbox - Shareable edit links?

I love the idea of storing Google Docs in Dropbox. However, I keep hitting bugs in the implementation that make it nearly unusable. Are there any solutions to the following problem other than switching to another platform?

1) I created both a Google Doc and a Google Slides deck

2) I created a link for sharing that has edit privileges

3) I shared that link with other individuals whose email addresses are not explicitly added as collaborators on the document. These individuals were able to view the documents, but were blocked from editing.

Any solutions?

Thanks

Ok, I think this answers my question - Dropbox's implementation of Google Docs sharing won't work in my setting due to requiring that all users have a Dropbox account to edit a Google Doc. I will switch to a different platform for these files, thank you.

Hey SJ16, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Could you please let us know some additional information?

For example, are you all part of the same Dropbox for Business teams account or are you using individual accounts and sharing those files directly?

Have your collaborators added the file to their account so that they can edit it?

    Keep us posted!

The students all have accounts with my university but may or may not be using them. All I am looking for is a way for anyone on the internet who I send the link to be able to edit the documents regardless of their login status.
