Referral sent to a friend marks as inelegible
Hi
I sent a request to a friend for them to install Dropbox. They followed all the process steps and were awarded 259mb. On my account against their referral email, it is marked as ineligible.
This does not make any sense, they set up the account on a different computer. So why is this marked as ineligible? Can someone please look into this for.
My email is <<removed to avoid spam>>

How to fix Ineligible referral status that is false?
"This invite looks suspicious!
- This usually happens if you sign up for multiple accounts on the same computer"

did the problem get fixed
i have to emails Ineligible
- WalterDropbox StaffHey Ranim Al-shakifi, thanks for joining the discussion here and happy Monday!
I just wanted to mention that when the recipient is ineligible for the referral program, there are two possible reasons:
One is that the recipient has already registered an account with Dropbox with that email address, or that the recipient is attempting to register using the same computer as you.
If you feel this status is inaccurate double-check the email address of your recipient to try again.
- LusilDropbox StaffHey khodbxuser, thanks for posting your question on the Dropbox Community.
You're right, the error you're getting may be due to the user you're trying to send the invite to is using the same network or device that you're connected to.
I'd like to help look into this with you, but we'd have to continue via email.
Would it be alright if I reached out to you?- khodbxuserNew member | Level 2

I have been a dropbox user for many years but this is ny first adventure on the community!
I am a Trustee for a charity and the Trustees are looking for a place to save shared files. I am proposing Dropbox (initillay as a basic account) and so referred them [personal information removed as per Community Guidelines] from my dropbox but it says we are inelligble for the extra 500G due to my setting it up on the same computer (even though 5 others will also be using it).
I think that dropbox support need to deal with this but I cannot find a way to communciate to support as a basic user.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

Hi alainfromepsom, you've come to the right place.
I moved your post here, where other users have expressed a similar concern.
However, to have a look into this a bit more in-depth with you, I've sent you a ticket.
Whenever you get the chance, have a look at your inbox for my message.
Thanks!

How do ask Dropbox to confirm it? It is a true referral.
Thanks.

I made an invite and the system and described as Ineligible.
The invite sent to [personal information removed due to the Community's Guidelines] from my dropbox account [personal information removed due to the Community's Guidelines].
Please give me the space that I earned.- LusilDropbox Staff
Hey jkane, thanks for checking in with us - I moved your post to this thread, where other users have expressed a similar concern.
As Rich and Daphne have also mentioned, if your referral is marked as ineligible, it could be due to the other user already having a Dropbox account under the email address you referred, or that they are using the same network or device that you're connected to.
You can have a look at the thread for some additional ideas on why this could have happened, and if you have any other questions, just give us a nudge. Cheers!

Unfortunately I dont think there is anything you can do - the system has detected that there is something not correct about that referral.
This usually happens if people are using the same IP address or have been detected be on the same computers or mobile devices etc.
- tnaeem786Explorer | Level 3My sister is in the same house but has a seperate laptop.. But obviously using the same wifi and ip address.. but it seems unfair that yu should get penelised even though this is a genuine bonafide case..
Hope some1 from dropbox can help otherwise i go away a unhappy user.. what can yu do 🙄- DaphneDropbox Staff
Hi there tnaeem786, just jumping in here!
If your referral is marked as "Ineligible" then this could be due to the recipient already having a Dropbox account under the email address you referred, or that they are using the same device that your account is connected to.
As you mentioned that they are using their own computer, is it possible that they already had a Dropbox account under the email address that you sent the referral to?
For the referral to be successful, they need to create an account as well install the desktop app as outlined here.
As Rich mentioned, the space they received wouldn't be for a referral and sounds like one of the "getting started" steps to install the desktop app, meaning they already had an account under that email address.
Let me know if this helps!

The referral is my sister. She was using one of my old laptop which I had installed dropbox on previously, but I had uninstalled it.
This seems not ethical, this is a genuine case, I referred her, she got the bonus and on my account her email is marked as ineligible.
I don't agree with this, and I am sure it can be corrected on your backend of the dropbox server ?
Can someone please help me with this ?

Hi
I have a question. My Dropbox is Fulll, and I am trying to delete files that no longer needed to make extra space?
I have deleted quite a lot, but amount of used space has not changed?
Any advise, please?
