Changing Country and currency
Please advise if I change country and currency it tells me that my subscription will end and then need to continue, does my data stay exactly where it is? What do I need to do it?
I forgot to advise dropbox of my move and I no longer have my old credit card and wish to use my new credit card, it was due for renewal today.
Hi gailb
Your data is safe 🙂
You need to wait for the upgrade to fail as well as the few retries that it will do - you get a few days grace before you are downgraded. Then once you are downgraded and you notice syncing stops as your account is now over quota you simply re-upgrade to the correct plan and using new card etc.

Hello dear community,
I have some questions before doing a billing currency change:
1. If I like to change the currency for yearly billing from USD, it means that Downgrading the account and Resubscribing it might cost a bigger yearly payment than it was before the change?
2. If someone knows, what is the list of currencies that are eligible by Dropbox except USD of course?
3. To be more specific, an Israeli Shekel is a possibility?
Thanks,
Gary

If you downgrade and resubscribe, you'll be charged whatever the current price is for the plan you choose. If you're paying less than the currently advertised price and you downgrade and resubscribe, you will see a price increase.
What I understand from previous posts on the forums is that you don't get to choose the currency you're charged for. Your currency is based on your billing address. There isn't an option to just pick whatever currently you want.

Thank you Rich,
That was helpful info.
It seems that nothing should be done by me.
Dropbox decides (itself) in which currency to charge with, based on the country you stay or live in (and of course with the currency you made the Dropbox deal offer when you first subscribed). If you change the country and updating a new billing address you will get the relevant billing currency Dropbox decides.
Is that correct?

Hi all, I’ve moved from Hong Kong to Canada and I’m on a yearly plan expired on July 19, 2023. I tried to update my Canadian billing address and I didn’t see any subscription shown in Apple’s subscription list after change of country. Even I knew that I may wait till the end of grace period till Aug 19, 2023, I worry about the data loss in change of plan, from Plus to Basic plan.
Anyone experienced similar problem? Should I wait till end of grace period or contact Dropbox before Aug 19??- NancyDropbox Staff
Welcome to the forum, Zenlawjp!
First of all, I’d like to assure you that even in the case of an account downgrade, you won’t lose any data from your Dropbox account, so you don’t need to worry about this. What will happen, if you go over-quota, is that you won’t be able to add new files to your Dropbox account, and your linked devices won’t sync for the time being.
Now, from what you mention, I get that the system can no longer bill you for the plan, since your billing country has changed, correct? If yes, then you'll need to wait till your Dropbox account has been downgraded, indeed, and after that, you may re-upgrade with your new billing info (either directly via www.dropbox.com or via iTunes again).
Let me know if you need further help, though.

Hi Sh1ning
Has your account downgraded yet at www.dropbox.com/account/plan ? Once it does you should be able to upgrade at www.dropbox.com/plans
