How to upgrade to Dropbox for macOS on File Provider?

I've recently purchased a new Macbook Pro (Apple M3 Pro, running MacOS 14.5) and installed Dropbox. However, it shows that I'm not eligible for the version on File Provider which causes me issues with accessing files that are only stored in the cloud. My other, older intel-based Macbook Pro with the same OS has everything working perfectly..

How to fix this? Why two devices on the same account are treated differently? Is there a way to force the upgrade?

Many thanks for your help!

  • Looks like everything is working great after the migration, thank you

Welcome to the Community, skotov! Hope you’re doing well.

Can you send me a full screenshot of the error you’re seeing?

Also, what’s the Dropbox app version running on both your computers?

    Let me know.

Both computers have the same version – 202.3.5506, screenshot attached with the message that I’m not eligible for Dropbox on file provider.

Hey skotov, keep in mind that we have temporarily paused updating new users to Dropbox for macOS on File Provider. However, your Dropbox desktop app for macOS will still work as normal.

This pause is temporary, and once updates have restarted, you’ll be able to complete the process through the Preferences page.

    Thank you!

Megan, thank you! I'm wondering when did this pause come into effect and when you expect to allow upgrades again?

Megan, really struggling with lack of proper sync. Is there a way to force the update for me? When you expect the pause will be lifted?

      Thanks

as an update, I just received the notification that I can now upgrade to the File Provider. Hope the process runs smoothly.
