Create Link Option Missing Windows10
Hi,
I want to create an internet link to a new dropbox folder that I can email to a number of people so that they can put files into it. This used to be easy but now when I right-click on the folder in Windows Explorer there is no longer an option to 'share' or 'create link' only one called 'Give access to' and this produces a link that doesn't work. Is there still a way to do this or has it been removed from dropbox?
Thanks
Glad to hear it's sorted now, Robert.
Let us know if anything else comes up and have a lovely weekend ahead!

Hey phillipsrb, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Can you please send us a screenshot of the error this link gives you so that we can have a visual too?
Also, what's the desktop app's exact status and version as shown in your system tray at the moment?
Note that you can use these steps to create shared links for your files in the meantime.
Keep us posted!

Hi Walter,
1) Here is an image of the menu that pops up when I right-click on a dropbox folder
2) If I hover the cursor over the dropbox icon in the system tray it shows '169,4,5684'. Is that the info you are looking for?
3) If I use the 'give access option, you can select 'Everyone' and then 'email' but the link embedded in the email doesn't work on a recipient PC.
Here's an example of a link created that way :-"(file://DESKTOP-EC8K1CE/Users/Robert%20Phillips/Dropbox/A_Lad_In_A_Cave_Photos)"
Best Regards

That 'give access' option is not coming from Dropbox, Robert, but most likely from your computer or a 3rd party app that's installed there.
Can you navigate inside your Dropbox folder on a new Window Explorer and right click on the folder you're trying to share and send me a screenshot of the options you get there?
If you have any 3rd party apps like cloud or backup services or an antivirus that's monitoring your files, you might need to completely close those to get the Dropbox options.
In any case, let me know how you get on.
