17 TopicsWord crashing when saving to Dropbox folders
I use Word almost every day for creating simple documents, and for the most part it works fine. Yesterdayit suddenly began crashing when I try to save a new document ina Dropbox folder. Steps for crash: Open Word. Open New document. Type something. Press Save. Save dialogue opens. Selector navigate to a Dropboxfolder from the list of folders. Save dialogue briefly opens the folder then Word crashes. The only thing that has changed is I've just installed 10.13.2 plus the 10.13.2 supplemental update. It could be one of them causing the crash. Or a new Dropbox update - I don't know if my Dropbox version was updated that day. Restarting doesn't help. Word does NOT crash if I save to the Desktop folder, or to external drives or USB sticks. System: Macbook Air 2013 13", OSX 10.13.2, Word for Mac 2011 fully updated. Word Version 14.7.7 (1708905) Dropbox personal user, version v41.4.80, Finder Integration is turned off. 87% of 10.9GB used. Also haveiCloud 2TB storage / backup turned on for all my files, working since last Nov. If I navigate, in the Word Save dialog, to non-Dropbox folders, all goes well. Navigating to any Dropbox folders causes Word to crash. Strange. I quit Dropbox and tested Word. Still crashing. I turned off Dropbox's 'Start on boot' option and restarted, and tested Word. Still crashing.Solved17KViews1like11CommentsHaving issues with syncing files from Lightroom
I recently upgraded to Dropbox Plus. I use Adobe Lightroom 6. Since my upgrade I have been having problems with it. I go into the program and it is very clunky. After a minute or two I get the message: Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. It will try to find a solution to this problem next time it opens." Then it closes down. Then I notice that Dropbox has started a syncing operation with about 11000 files - which I think is probably my pictures. I go to my Web Dropbox and when I click on Deleted Files I see that Dropbox has deleted the preview cache. I restore the deleted file and the syncing operation stops and I am up to date. Does anyone know what is going on here?Solved2.9KViews0likes5CommentsOutlook App on IPhone keeps disconnecting
Since a 2023 outlook app update was completed every time I go to attached a file to a message from Dropbox within the outlook app it shows no files available. Only fix thus far is to leave the message entirely and re sign in to link Dropbox to Outlook. This is grossly inefficient.. any solutions would be great!1.6KViews0likes6CommentsFile issues between ScanSnap and Dropbox
I attempted to connect through the Dropbox customer service chat, but it was not functioning. Clicked the link and nothing happened. So I am seeking guidance here in the community. I used to be able to scan documents from my ScanSnap scanner into Dropbox but I moved some files and now ScanSnap cannot find the Dropbox connection. The message I get is: "The ScanSnap Home folder cannot be found because it has been deleted, moved, or renamed. See the ScanSnap Home folder. /Users/denny43/Dropbox (His Original Design)" I apparently moved the "ScanSnap Home folder" from the /Users/denny43/Dropbox (His Original Design) and now cannot figure out how to get it back. I had the ScanSnap customer service connected to my computer for over an hour trying to figure it out, but they were unable to move the Dropbox link back into the Users/Denny43/ file and said that I needed to contact Dropbox to make sure it was done properly so I would not loose the files. I am NOT a computer savvy person, and regret moving files that got me into this mess. It may also be an issue between my desktop Dropbox connecting to my online dropbox, but I don'g know. Any help or guidance will be deeply appreciated. I have not been able to scan my documents for some time and need to get them up into my Dropbox files soon. Thank you.1.4KViews0likes1CommentWhy my external hard drive can not be seen by Dropbox backup?
I work with my WD Mypassport external hard drive. For safe, I backup it for the first time and then I hope it works. However, when I KEEP plugged in and restart, the dropbox backup said it could not detect the plugged in device(WD external hard drive) and could not backup. If I unplugged and plugged the external hard drive, dropbox will detect it. It really annoyed because the backup is so unstable and unsafe. Maybe there are some problem, I want the dropbox backup to detect my external hard drive whenever I use it. What is the Possible problem. Moreover, the WD external hard drive works properly ANYTIME it plugged in. The only problem occurs when I try to have a backup with dropbox. Thanks. Hi Dropbox, On June 5th I received the attached e-mail below. Naturally I prepared for the closure date, but after looking, it appears Dropbox Invoice is still online and fully functional? I would love to continue using DB Invoice if there's been a change, but please help me make sense of the e-mail vs. what's actually happening. Thank you!1.1KViews1like2CommentsDropbox not allowing me to insert pics into Powerpoint on my Mac
I recently bought a new iMac along with Microsoft Home and Student. I have always used PowerPoint to create presentations and inserted pictures from my Dropbox when I had a PC. Now that I have a Mac, I am unable to insert any of my Dropbox images. I just get a tiny box with a red x on it each time I try. I use this for my business and need to find an answer.Solved969Views0likes2CommentsMy Dropbox Sign files don't preview on the desktop app - "an error occurred when loading .."
Whenever I seek to see the status of a Dropbox Sign document to see who has signed and who has not, I get the message "an error occurred when loading the preview". This problem happens for documents that are fully or partially signed. I do not know if it happens to documents completely unsigned as I always sign a copy immediately after sending out my request. I am able to download the document and see who has signed, but that adds time when all I need is to be able to have a fast view so I can follow up with those that have not signed. My plan is Dropbox Plus whichonly allows 3 documents a month, which is fine because so far I have never used used it more than once a month. Any ideas on how to get around this error?752Views0likes3CommentsDropbox Embedded not working with /scl links.
Our site uses the dropbox embedder to display shared folder content with our users. The problem we're having is that the newer shared links that are created with a /scl url prefix won't work with the embedder. The older shared links created with /sh prefix work fine however. When a user with the /scl style link tries to view the embedder they are prompted to 'request access' which then sends us an email and notification that '<name> is requesting access.' I've compared the meta data between the working and non-working links and don't see any real difference that would explain the behavior. I've also tested the non-working links in an incognito window to see if navigating directly to the link works (vs using the embeddder) and they work fine. Is this a known issue? Anything else I should explore to try to get the embedder to work for these links? Thanks!630Views0likes3Comments
