Logged into my account and all my files are missing
I've had a drop box subscription for a few years and at renewal, December 1st, 2022, I upgraded to DropBox Plus. Last week I had a blue-screen issue on my Desktop and took it to a repairman. He saved, documents, then (I suppose) cleared the hard drive, and then he reloaded Windows Home 10. When I got my computer back, I noticed I was missing programs - Reaper and Bluebeam. I was annoyed but not too concerned because I had purchase receipts and licenses stored in Dropbox. Then I noticed that Drop Box desktop short-cut was missing. I tried to log-in to DropBox but couldn't remember my password, so the DropBox Chat agent or bot sent me a password reset link. I used that to open DropBox, but all my files are missing. I paid a full year subscription in advance expecting secure cloud storage, but all my stored documents are gone ... very important documents for which there are no or very limited hard copies. Does anyone know how I can recover my old account? Because it looks like my password reset started a new account.

I have had the basic plan Dropbox for years. I only stored pictures and a few videos. I was at 99% full about a year ago and stopped adding. I just added 3 short videos (which may have gone over the 2GB limit (I don't know). Now all I have in the entire Dropbox is the 3 recent videos that I just added and I have no access to anything else. Now all I have is 85MB in my Dropbox. Any option to retrieve the pictures?

When was the last time you accessed the account? If it was more than a year ago then the account was likely deleted due to inactivity and you're now signed in to a new, empty account.
What does your Events page show? If the only activity is the 3 recent files, then you're likely in a brand new account.

Thank you for responding. The events page shows that I "added the app" on 10/1/2024. That is the day I saved the videos to Dropbox. No activity at the events page before 10/1. I am 95% certain I have been in my account in the last year (only looking). This does appear to be a brand new account. Is there any way to retrieve the "old account"?

I have had a Dropbox account for 10 years. I tried to log into my account today, and was not able to log in. I entered my e-mail again and reset my password and my account is completely empty. Please, is there any way to restore my files? I have a lot of special photos on there that are priceless to me.
I am certain that I did not delete the files myself, and I am sure that I used the correct e-mail to login. I received no notice that Dropbox would delete my files.
- lt6Explorer | Level 3Hi Hannah, it’s been a few months since I’ve last logged in. I entered my password, but I got an error that the password was incorrect. I reset my password with the email, and when I was able to log in, all of the files that were there before were all gone. 😞

I logged into my account using my google account and my files are no longer in my dropbox. Why was there no prior notice sent, in case it was deleted?

When was the last time you accessed your account, and have you always signed in with Google, or did you previously sign in with your email and password?
