Can we change our Family manager or do we need to cancel and re-upgrade to Family?
Hi, our team is currently using the family plan and we want to keep using that plan, but the family manager is leaving the company. I plan to change the manager to someone else and update the paym...

Thanks for posting on our forum, @askmeerkat! Welcome aboard.
To change the Family manager, you’ll need to downgrade from your current Family plan indeed and re-upgrade on your end with your payment details. After that, you can re-invite the rest of the family members.
Now, since you’re not the current Family manager, you can’t cancel the Family plan on your end (this is something only they can do). However, you can leave the Family plan with the rest of the members, which will convert your Dropbox accounts into Basic ones and you’ll keep access to all of your files (besides the Family Room folder, which will only be accessible by the current manager). For more details, please check this Help Center article.
Other than the Family plan though, you can also check our Dropbox team plans here and see if they could be a good fit for what you want.
In any case, you can re-upgrade with your current files and not re-upload them to Dropbox.
Let me know if you have any other questions though.

Thank you for your kind response😀
Could you check if I understand the process correctly?
To change the family manager and payment details:
1st. The current family manager should cancel the family plan. (which means the plan will automatically switch to the Basic plan.)
2nd. Then they should re-upgrade while assigning the new manager, changing the payment details. (Could you also share the link to the relevant page on your website for more details?)
3rd. The new manager can invite other memebers and they don't need to re-upload the previous data to Dropbox
I have a few more questions.I'm trying to register with the corporate name(for the new family manager) and card.
Is there a specific procedure for registering a corporate account?
Can I still sign up for the Family plan even if I create a new account? I couldn't find it easily on the pricing page.
I'd really appreciate your response. Thank you so much!!- Megan2 months agoDropbox Staff
Hey askmeerkat, let me also jump in here!
Your first point was indeed correct.
Once the current Family manager cancels their existing plan, the account will downgrade on the subscription's next renewal date.
Now, if you want to be a Family manager next, all you'd have to do after -either leaving the Family plan, or once the manager cancels it, and the plan downgrades- would be for you to purchase the Family plan anew, and invite the old members or even new ones.
You can still sign up for the Family plan even with a new account, yes.
As for the corporate name, the best thing would be for you to use a Team account. However, if this doesn't meet your needs, you can always change the account's name in your settings.
If you need something else, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help every step of the way.

Thank you for the quick reply!
As you mentioned when I sign up for the new Family plan (after the manager cancel their exisiting plan), will I still have access to all the data we were using before?
I'm a bit confused because the first response mentioned that in some cases, I might not be able to access the Family Room folder.
