- Hi everybody,We’d like to provide an update on this topic:Keep in mind that you can completely hide the Recents section with the new modular home layout on mobile:1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.2. Tap the customize icon (artist palette) 🎨3. To add or remove a default section, tap the toggle next to Recents, Starred, Camera Uploads, 4. Viewed links, Shared, or Offline.5. Tap Save to save your changes. You can find more info in here. Also, based on your comments, our team is working on improving the recents list update (when an item is deleted remotely). Thank you for sharing your feedback on this. We'll keep you in the loop for future features related to this.Sam

Dropbox has become the most bizarre program I have ever seen. I pay for $99.00 X 5 but certainly would not have if I had known that they were so capable of screwing the pooch on something as simple as making their program totally unusable for a large segment of the users. I have been changing all my dropbox files over to Onedrive to see if that will work better, but have noted in some of the posts that Google has a similar option. I don't know if either Google or Microsoft will be a better program, but at this point they certainly cannot be any worse. I hate to lose the money, and make the people I pay for the extra space, change over to another program, but I am better off losing the money as opposed to having to jump through the hoops dropbox wants me too.
Does anybody know who is responsible for the decisions at dropbox? It appears from the amount of complaints and lack of responses that whoever it is must be in deep hiding because I have never purchased a program that refuses to at least try to justify the erroneous decisions they made regarding a programming problem. I maybe have not got it changed but at least they had the decency to justify their thinking.
Relative to Rich!! He probably escaped from Mom's basement or the individual responsible for the massive screw-up, because NOBODY can be dumb enough to make excuses and wrong headed statements such as HE?? has.

Having been told that whingeing on this forum wouldn't change things I took the advice to contact Dropbox and use their 'marketing-dislike' option and submitted my thoughts on the Recents fiasco. That was on 24th February and they did send me an acknowledgement but no workaround. It is now 9th March so we can expect an update to give us the option of keeping/removing Recents anytime soon.
Well, OK, maybe.
By the way, Box.net seems pretty good.

Farrel L., you clearly don't understand how 'Recents' works.
It just shows you the files that are on your Dropbox already, they would also be on there if there was no 'Recents' screen. So your comment is false.
That said, It's pretty unbelievable how Dropbox fails to listen to it's users and just keeps breaking stuff (awful Recents screen, no more notifications), which are not adressed in their new (beta) releases.

I see absolutely no advantage or reason for this application and as others have said it adds another step to get to your files plus it's a real annoyance when you have privacy files pop up that you do not want others to see. It is senseless feature in my opinion

Dropbox is directing the threads of people wanting remove the recents list here. I don't want to clear the list, I want it gone. I don't like opening the app on my phone and finding every thing I've looked at or uploaded in the past week. Although it's amusing to check my teenage son's phone and see what he's been up to. Yes, I know a password fixes that, but it doesn't stop children from looking over my shoulder and seeing biology dissections. I try to turn off camera uploads before taking those pictures because right now I don't need to save them in Dropbox, but I might forget or need to upload them someday.
On the phone app, the recents list means I have to click extra times to get to the files I need. Some people might use the same files over and over and find it useful, I don't. Giving the end user a choice on the usefulness of this feature should be reasonable and I don't understand why it's taking so long to modify the code and release an update. The time frame on complaints and the fact Dropbox redirects people who don't want the list to the thread for people who want to remove files from it makes me feel they're not listening.
An option to show it as default v your normal folders list is all I ask.

Can someone please tell me how this has not gone viral?? Dropbox's complete lack interest or concern toward users' privacy?? We've given them a ridiculously ample amount of time to address the issue, or even explain what is going on. It's time we got the rest of the Internet involved.
From https://www.dropbox.com/about :
"We create products that are easy to use and are built on trust. WHEN PEOPLE PUT THEIR FILES IN DROPBOX, THEY CAN TRUST THEY’RE SECURE AND THEIR DATA IS THEIR OWN. OUR USERS’ PRIVACY HAS ALWAYS BEEN OUR FIRST PRIORITY, AND IT ALWAYS WILL BE."
...Unless someone is standing next to you, then they get to see everything you have recently done. Including file names, other Clients' data, pictures of your naked 3 month old in the bath tub...
Either Dropbox or I don't understand what "Privacy," "Always," and "First" mean.

I don't like the recents feature because it shows private pictures I've view recently. If I have camera upload on and take some risque pictures for or with my SO I don't want those flashing up on the screen. You guys should offer an option to turn it off, or at least exclude some folders from ever showing up there... right now I have to keep a passcode on my app so it doesn't flash up pics I don't want to share at work or when my kids are around.
Seriously, think about this before you make a feature mandatory.
Can we change the name from Dropbox to Sovjetbox? I think that would resolve the confusion caused by the idea that this company would even try to listen to it's customers...
