- Hi everybody,We’d like to provide an update on this topic:Keep in mind that you can completely hide the Recents section with the new modular home layout on mobile:1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.2. Tap the customize icon (artist palette) 🎨3. To add or remove a default section, tap the toggle next to Recents, Starred, Camera Uploads, 4. Viewed links, Shared, or Offline.5. Tap Save to save your changes. You can find more info in here. Also, based on your comments, our team is working on improving the recents list update (when an item is deleted remotely). Thank you for sharing your feedback on this. We'll keep you in the loop for future features related to this.Sam

Lol!!! FYI if you delete it from recents, you also delete your file from dropbox.
Careful.

This is an important feature to add; if you can clear your browser history, you should be able to clear your Recents history on Dropbox.
Why is it a difficult feature to add? Say you're reading user actions to generate the history and there's no way to delete those actions from the database without causing other problems - is that the problem? I'm a developer, I understand this.
So why not just update a timestamp in the database to the current time and don't show history earlier than the current timestamp. There you go. Problem solved. This has been going on for way too long and it's bothered me for months and months - please implement an update for the sake of your paying customers.

Dear Dropbox: I have been a loyal fee paying customer for over 7 years.
If you don't fix this Recent history (i.e. either an option to remove it or at a minimum to clear it), I am moving on. G Drive is offering a very compelling promo.
Please fix -- how hard is this and so many customers have flagged this as a serious and important issue!
You are either too lazy or you don't care, but either way it doesn't matter. Customers vote with their feet.
The clock is ticking for me...

I feel very similar to Edward. I too have been a loyal customer for a number of years. I would inherently prefer to stay with Dropbox rather than move all my files and cancel my next subscription renewal. The issue Dropbox recently had with access from certain tablets/mobiles, which they fixed fairly quickly, still meant for a short period of time, I had to find a work-around which inevitably meant using a competitor and it wasn't that difficult to set up and transfer the odd file.
I wish Dropbox could articulate where the Recent history issue sits on their priority list. I am hoping that it is high on the list? But with limited communication back from Dropbox, I am beginning to fear it might not even be on the list!

This is a big privacy issue for me. I am having a tough time using DropBox as every time I open it every file I've viewed, or deleted is shown! And what's worse, it's the FIRST page that's shown. Everything I deleted is prominently displayed every time I open the app or website. Horrible choice DropBox!
I need to be able to control what is my home/default page, and what events I want recorded in recents, and whether I want them disabled entirely. I'm using DropBox alternatives right now.

I find it strange that even after this long a time of people expressing their opinion Dropbox have not bothered to take care of a very valid customer concern. Is there a reason why Dropbox do not want to make recents tab go away?
Like so many have said before now, my concern is that there are always photos in the recents tab that I do not want someone looking at. Which is why, even though my app is PIN locked I do not want to open it when someone else is looking.
Surely it can not be that difficult to either remove the recents view entirely or to incorporate some sort of toggle option. Unless, of course, Dropbox simply do not want to. - Nathan P.12New member | Level 2
Guys, the folder shortcut is not a valid workaround for this, and the lack of official reponse is arrogant and even a bit offensive. It's not an unreasonable request, and is clearly one that enough users have requested, over long enough a period, to warrant such an easy change, and if not, at least a valid reason as to why not

Rich,
You are putting yourself ahead of the community by FIRST responding to William's email about the definition of "official" and only THEN declaring it to be off thread. If it was off thread and you care about the integrity of the thread then you should restrain from adding your last word to the thread before telling others to move on. You are baiting a response unnecessarily. His frustration with this feature is relevant to the community.
Specific UI decisions necessarily impact some users more than others. This forum gives users a chance to express these impacts in a way that can be influential to an engineering team's prioritization process. This is a feature that will cause some users to leave Dropbox and will leave others with a diminished value from the product. Dropbox is almost certainly monitoring these posts directly whether they weigh in or not. Knowing that some users are turned off by the feature is important but it is also important that Dropbox be aware that users would prefer that they comment from time to time about feature requests.
No they don't have to comment but William is right to post that it would be better for some users and much appreciated if they did. Dropbox isn't a nonprofit volunteering their time to cure world hunger. They are a technology company trying to sell a file storage product and a UI solution to interface with it. As such, their only connection to long term success and relevancy is to fully understand how the customers react to their product and to build a brand relationship base. William is giving good feedback which at least some others would agree with and are happy to see expressed on this thread.

Well, time to call it a day - I've already moved most of my files to Google Drive, with the exception of a few shared folders that I need to leave on DB for now.
I'm fed up with receiving notifications that there are updates to this thread, when they almost all say the same thing: users are unhappy, and Rich is trying to defend the indefensible.
I'm unsubscribing from notifications, as it's clear that nothing is going to happen.
Bye.

Adding my vote to suppress items in the recent list, clear the full list, or disabling the list
