- Hi everybody,We’d like to provide an update on this topic:Keep in mind that you can completely hide the Recents section with the new modular home layout on mobile:1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.2. Tap the customize icon (artist palette) 🎨3. To add or remove a default section, tap the toggle next to Recents, Starred, Camera Uploads, 4. Viewed links, Shared, or Offline.5. Tap Save to save your changes. You can find more info in here. Also, based on your comments, our team is working on improving the recents list update (when an item is deleted remotely). Thank you for sharing your feedback on this. We'll keep you in the loop for future features related to this.Sam

As a direct result of this issue, my company has decided not to sign up for Dropbox for business with 6 user licences, we have now signed up with another provider after waiting too long for this to be resolved.
It's a shame that such an easily resolved issue is having such a negative impact, the lack of customer focus is a huge driver in a competitive market.

I just purchased the "pro" version and in less than 48 hours I'm desperately joining the petition to allow us to clear and hide the "recent" files. This is a very annoying issue and concerns to user privacy.
I'm a software developer and I know it shouldn't take so long to add such feature. To whom should we address our concern?
Please, help us!

@Ian I:
That's not trivial at all!! I'm surprised you're so cool about it, honestly. What's rather trivial is having porn pop up when you're trying to share work with your co-workers haha.
- Bliss G.Helpful | Level 6Howwwwwwww is this still ignored???????
Why, Dropbox?? Why???- Dforster2016Helpful | Level 5EXACTLY !! This is a very important violation of privacy, and I've seen numerous requests for this !! Dropbox needs to make this a NUMBER # 1 enhancement. Allow users to clear or Turn OFF recents !!!!!!!!!
- Bliss G.Helpful | Level 6Dropbox, will you just give an answer then lock the thread at least so you don't have all these thousands of pissed off customers?

Rich, this forum is a dropbox.com registered domain (see whois) and the only place where customers of dropbox can complain with the idle hope that someone of dropbox reads it. Tickets are never read anyway.
Other users that volunteer their time here may accidently think they have more rights or are entitled to to some special hero treatment, but that off course that is not correct. It is your own choice to waist your time on a product backed by a company that does not care about it's customers. If it helps you: I find your contributions not helpfull for me and think you can better spent that time on fitness.
So yes this is a good place to request an ETA on when dropbox can fix the horrible timewaisters they have added.
It now requires 8 steps to get to a file on dropbox android.

It seems that dropbox doesn't care about what we as users think of this horrible feature. It's been more than six months since the firsts complaints. I am leaving and start making negative publicity around.

Agree 100% that dropbox on mobile should NOT open to 'recents' by default.
This is a totally absurd change and serves no purpose to me- only causes me to use extra steps every time I open dropbox. Make it optional? Sure. But don't force it on the apparent majority who do not want it.
I, too, have thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated dropbox, recommending it enthusiastically to others and encouraging them to use it. It is the best of the best.
But this changes everything. May have to look at other options.
Dropbox: Any solution forthcoming on this issue?!

Defaulting to recent view makes no sense. That is not how peoples' brains work. If I am accessing Dropbox, I am looking for a particular file. There is a high probability that the file or folder is not recent. This forces users to take an extra step. Killing workflow. Recent files is for when I don't remember where that thing is, but I know I used it the other day. I understand you are trying to help people be organized by presenting them information you think they need. But people don't think that complex. When I use Dropbox, I usually know where the file is. I totally disregard "Recent." I have never checked Recent once. Why hunt through an unalphabetized list when the item might not even be in there? Recent should be an option, not a hurdle, which it is. I am blown away that this feature got implemented the way it did. If this is still an issue the next time my subscription is up, I am not renewing. Keep it simple!

This is really a poorly designed feature and my problem is compounded by the fact that I am an attorney (I've heard all the jokes, thank you). I work on confidential, personal and sometimes very graphic things (police crime scene photos, autopsy photos, reports, etc...) I also use dropbox to save personal photos of my family. MORE THAN ONCE my wife has complained about logging in to see a family photo or vid, only to have her (and on some occasions, the kids) see a thumbnail of a dead body (or worse). This should be an absolute no-brainer for privacy and common sense reasons.
