- Hi everybody,We’d like to provide an update on this topic:Keep in mind that you can completely hide the Recents section with the new modular home layout on mobile:1. Open the Dropbox mobile app.2. Tap the customize icon (artist palette) 🎨3. To add or remove a default section, tap the toggle next to Recents, Starred, Camera Uploads, 4. Viewed links, Shared, or Offline.5. Tap Save to save your changes. You can find more info in here. Also, based on your comments, our team is working on improving the recents list update (when an item is deleted remotely). Thank you for sharing your feedback on this. We'll keep you in the loop for future features related to this.Sam

I just can't believe that Dropbox so reputed and useful has turned into vagabond role as not to listen to its customers. It has acted as even to goon as it has managed mobile phone companies to install Dropbox as default app. Sheer mighty entity which has turned into moron which could be saviour. God bless.

this thread started way back last year and it's still not fixed?!
Are you really paying those stupid people in your development team when they can't even resolve such an easy fix?!! I am really disappointed in dropbox for such a ridiculous shortage on privacy! - Keith N.8New member | Level 2
I notice that this topic has been renamed from "How to clear Recent file list in mobile apps" to "How to Clear or Remove the Recent file list in mobile apps" - which is interesting as Remove is what seems to be wanted, but is not possible.
The number of customers saying that they are moving away seems to be gathering pace - I wonder if this will be their Waterloo moment...

How has this not been addressed yet?
Rich,
- This domain (dropboxforum.com) is registered to and funded by dropbox.
- Tickets should really be for personal issues and personal support.
For generic issues it is better to address these in fora. That is .... if the company even cares. - Dropbox demonstrated that they do release features not tested or discussed with the community, that they ignore complaints from the community, and that they don't care at all. Submitting a ticket after dropbox so strongly ignoring the user community is off course pointless.
- Again... I am puzzled why on earth you would suggest to submit a ticket to people knowing dropbox does not care at all? Do you get paid for your role???? I honestly don't believe one would do this for charity.
- Also the word official is nonsense for a commercial (non government) organization.

Thank you Sofia, I just came to discuss the same thing as I ran into a very embarrassing issue when a client saw a very personal file while I was loading up the app to show a product image. Suffice it to say I will not be opening the dropbox app in front of anyone again until I'm certain I can disable recents.

DROPBOX. DOES. NOT. CARE.
Can we get OP to edit his original post?? Put that in BIG LETTERS so ANY ONE coming here expecting Dropbox to give a squat about its customers can simply just stop wasting their time, and find a competitor to go with. In fact, can we just point them to the "Who the best competitor to switch to" thread? I'll go create one...
If this isn't an official Dropbox forum, that should be no problem right?

I've not posted here before. I found this forum from Google while looking for how to clear the results or remove sensitive files from it. To find out Dropbox has registered this issue twelve months ago and failed to listen to their customers is quite disappointing. I'm a pro user but I am now going to move my custom elsewhere.
It's sad but having now witnessed that Dropbox doesn't care about the rest of you and is quite happy to ignore your comments for over a year, I doubt they will care another Pro user just left.

Wow, what a thread. I am a first time poster to this thread. The new default of taking me to the "Recent files" tab by default has been a real pain and I was Googling how to set the preferences to be the way it used to be. I am amazed that Dropbox has such a resistance to providing an option to keeping the previous (more natural) way of accessing files.
If it helps the Product folks at Dropbox, this is all about too many clicks to reach my files. Yes, I saw the work-around to create a shortcut, but I don't need more icons on my screens to restore previous functionality.
I have been a long time Dropbox user, but recently Google Drive has been easier and easier for me to use and I find myself migrating that direction. Being an early supporter of Dropbox, I find that kinda sad.
I am not angry - Dropbox needs to do what they think is best for their product. However, while this may seem like a small feature change, it really is something that is another pain point that pushes me toward other solutions. Just another data point for the Product folks to consider.
Best of luck.

"Once we decide which way we'll go, we'll let you know :) "
I have never heard a bigger "SCREW YOU CUSTOMERS!!!" from ANY company than that right there!!!
I bought a Synology NAS and am in the process of replacing Dropbox with a more functional device that will cost me sooo much less in the long run. All without relying on DB deciding what to do with or how to display my data. I'll get TERABYTES of storage, VPN server, media streaming, camera surveillance, almost any networked function you can imagine... on and on!
I am not at all surprised they are acting this way, no one has sued them yet (or maybe they just settled with an NDA), Reddit hasn't made a stink that I am aware of, and so far (even in this thread... lookin at you Brad S.) they have been able to appease people by rolling out changes to a few customers who apparently think they were listened to the first time they complained. Google does this, Amazon does this, Microsoft does this, Apple does this... Good job DB... you are now in the big leagues, making the big league bucks. (And THAT'S all they care about.)
This thread was opened almost a year ago to the day, if that brings things into perspective. It is TRIVIAL to make an option in the settings to completely disable the "Recent" privacy debacle. (We make apps at my work.)
I am really curious how much revenue I generated this company by referrals, to be treated like this. I was a DB evangelist for the longest... now I'm evangelizing with another message.
