Cannot directly open file from DB Dash
I was excited to use DB Dash, and like the fast and thorough search capability BUT the fact that you cannot actually open a file from the Dash window renders this feature unhelpful. When clicking on a file in the Dash results it opens up a browser page with the same list and only there can you actually access the searched for file. This adds an unnecessary step that has caused me to pretty much cease use of Dash. Sigh!

sure.
Note that in addition to Dash taking me to a browser window when I select a file in the Dash App pop-up window (instead of opening it directly as explained in this thread), I cannot open the file on my local system using an on-prem application. Eg, when I select a .pdf, I get 2 options: "download" (why would I download it when it's available to be opened locally if I select the same file in my DropBox folder in my Finder window) or to "open in", which only gives me web-based option depending on what apps I connect.... and btw the OneDrive connector is broken.
this product is clearly in beta and I hope you can fix these bugs b/c at the moment using Dash for me results in much less efficient workflow.
Oh also, I cannot Update Dash in the dashboard.... when I click on that option nothing happens... other menu option do seem to work - butterpickleExplorer | Level 3
Sure. I'll note that NOW when I click on a file returned in the Dash app popup window, it opens the file in my Brave browser window. Prior (and what I wrote in about earlier), it would spawn a Brave browser tab containing the same search results that were shown in the Dash app window, and from there I could click the file and it would open in the appropriate app. So, eg, I clicked on a .docx in Dash, then it opened a Brave tab with the contents of the .docx

Hey there butterpickle, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
I just gave it a go on my Windows device and clicking on a video file which I have available offline on my computer, for example, opened the related app, in this case my computer's Media player.
When you say browser page, are you referring to the Dropbox Dash window or a web browser window?
Do you notice this with all types of files of yours or just some?
Any additional information or screenshots are more than welcome!

tnx for the reply Walter . I search using the Dash window (viz the icon in the status menu in the upper right of my Mac UI). My expectation is to be able to click on the search result in that Dash window and open said file. Instead what happens is when I click it opens up a browser window which is essentially a duplication of the Dash window results, and then I have to click on the file again in order to open it in it's relevant application.... hoping this is just a setting toggle for me that I missed as opposed to a bug in the workflow?

Hi butterpickle, happy August 1st!
Just to clarify, do you use the latest version of your browser on your device?
