Missing "Copy Dropbox link" from the drop down menu on Mac
Hi!
For years now I have used the right click - copy drop box link to allow people to download files from my dropbox. All of sudden in the past couple weeks that option is no longer available in th...
- 6 years agoHey there, Rob!As a first step, could you please try relaunching Finder by using the following steps:
- Save any files that you have open and close any apps.
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left of your screen.
- Click on force quit.
- Relaunch the Finder.
If you’re still experiencing the same behavior, could you please try a reboot of your device? Maybe that will do the trick.Let me know of any update!

I have had the same issue on and off for a long time on Mac. Sometimes the copy link option is available sometimes it isn't. I've scratched my head for a pattern to no avail. Nothing I do seems to fix it including re-starting, re-installing, etc. - but wait a few weeks and the link suddenly appears again.
The only thing that makes sense to me is that something is changing under the hood at DropBox. As I dimly recall, it started at around the time the "Pay-for" version came out and/or the "public folder" was retired. My first thought was that DB had deciced to make this very convenient feature only available in Pro - but it re-appeared a few weeks later.

I had the same problem (running Big sur) did everything that was mentions above (in other reply's) but in the end I downloaded the latest dropbox version and reinstalled the app. Afterwards everything works like it used to!
thanks for all the tips!

I have a MacbookPro 13" 2018 w/touch bar. I installed the new MacOS Big Sur earlier this week -- and now the Copy Link is missing in the Dropbox icon dropdown menu. I have tried what has been noted in this forum. I have contacted Dropbox customer support via Chat. Nothing works.
So frustated I'm ready to hurl laptop across the room after trying to fix this for more than 3 hours.
I don't see this is a Big Sur issue. The issue is with the Dropbox dropdown menu from the Dropbox icon in the nav bar. There is simply no way to select "copy link" while looking for the appropriate file to attach. Dropbox took something was not broken and complete screwed it up.

Hey mmhull, since you mentioned that you've contacted our Support team, could you let us know the ticket ID (eg. #1234567) associated with the interaction?
In the meantime, could you send us a screenshot of what you see when you hover over the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock?

Hi - thanks for responding. I messaged your colleague, Ella back about this as well. Ticket #11789250.
Look forward to hearing back.
My team and I are ready to leave Dropbox if this isn't reverted back to the way it used to be. We use Dropbox for a lot of efficiency reasons and it's been rendered wildly inefficient with the situation with the missing "copy link" functionality for the entire Dropbox file tree on my hard drive.
