If you create a shared link with edit access, this makes the folder a shared folder, so users will require a Dropbox account of their own to edit the file.
Currently, it isn't possible to share your system Documents folder with other Dropbox accounts.

Hi JanH45, thanks for messaging the Community!
Currently, it isn't possible to add folders elsewhere on your device into the Dropbox folder. There is the Dropbox Backup feature, however, this moves the entire folder into the Dropbox folder, and it doesn't allow the files to be shared.
Could you clarify how you granted access to other users to your Dropbox account? Do you mean via a shared folder on the site, or with the account credentials directly?
This will help me to assist further!

This is what I have given others Settings for a particular folder;
- Link for editing
- People with this link can edit
There isn’t a link for editing. Create link

Hi JanH45, you mentioned that you provided them with a link for editing, however you later on said that there isn't a link.
Do they have issues adding content to the link you provided them or something different? Would you mind clarifying for me?

In my previous response I copied the view you have in Dropbox. In the example the view was for a folder that did not have a link included. That's why the last sentence included the wording "There isn’t a link for editing. Create link"
They have added contents, such as photos to the folder.
