As a first step, could you check if there is a limit on the bandwidth in the Dropbox desktop application?
Also, would you mind clarifying the exact version of the OS you're using, along with the Dropbox version installed on your device? I'm asking, just to get a clear vision and idea of what we're talking about.

There are no bandwidth limits, I am using the Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1 (have not yet updated to Sequoia 15.0) with the Dropbox desktop app v209.4.3661.- Megan2 months agoDropbox Staff

Is it possible that you have more than 300k files in your Dropbox folder?
That might slow down syncing and will generally cause the performance of the Dropbox app to deteriorate.
Could you just try resetting your Internet router to see if that helps at all? Sometimes resetting your connection gets you a different route which could improve speeds.
