How can I have people add files to a folder without it taking up their space?
Hi all, I am a team member on a business standard plan. I created a link to a folder that I want to share with others that are not team members. I want them to be able to add files to the folder, but when I create the link, it only allows for those with the link to view. There is not an option in the settings where I can change it to can edit.
I can invite members individually by inputting their email address and they can edit that way, but if I go this route, then the shared folder will take up space on each individual's dropbox and most people have the 2 gb free plan and don't have enough room.
Can someone help guide me in how I can make a link for others to edit?
Hey anahitalita, thanks for reaching out to our Community.
To add to what Rich mentioned, you can also use file requests.
With file requests, you can request files from people and these won't take up their Dropbox space.
You can read more about them and how to create them here.
I hope this helps!

Hi. Can anyone help... I'd like to give someone permission to add files to specific folders on my drop box account on a continual basis. This person will not be able to open or re-write current content, only upload. How would I do this please? Thank you!

Hi andyandy8, how are you today?
I think that the best way to go on about it, would be for you to use a File Request.
That way, you can request content from said person, they'd add it to your account without them being able to see, download or edit content in the folder.
I hope this helps!

You can't. Shared links only provide view/download access. Someone accessing a shared link can not add or edit the files being linked to. In order to provide edit capability you need to invite them to a shared folder, which will indeed take up space in their own account, so they will need enough available space in their account before they can accept the share.
