File syncing and opening problems after required Mac update

Working on a MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.0.1, I was required to update my Dropbox which required the full migration on Mac. This was done in the past few weeks. Ever since then, there have been major problems with file syncing and opening files in the app on Mac:
1) Many times I will double click, and keep clicking on, a file in the Dropbox app in the Finder window. Nothing happens.
2) Sometimes when I click a file in the Dropbox app in the Finder window, it reroutes me to the Dropbox website, rather than to the app in question (Word, Excel, etc.).

Then the only way to open is to manually go to the program and open it, though this does not always work either. It's like the Dropbox app is no longer recognized.
This is really frustrating and frankly unacceptable behavior considering the price of the app and that I did not do anything to invite it. Has anyone had the same problems and what is occurring to fix this? Thank you!

I am facing this issue since last 15 days and have written to dropbox support staff number of times, and they do no have any clue about it.

Hundreds of users are facing this problem after this dropbox update.

I'm having same problems from the very first day of mac update.

I even send them the recorded video of problems occurring.

But the resolution that staff replied to me was to complete reinstall dropbox using terminal.

I did what they said, and yet "nothing" has solved. And it makes me really annoy.

What I recommend you is to reinstall dropbox and don't upgrade to Mac supported version.

      Agreed.
But its dropbox is pushing for updates by showing red flag in dropbox icon.

As we all are on apple ecosystem, I think its time to leave dropbox and move to paid icloud space.

Atleast thats whats I am thinking.

If we leave Dropbox, how can we get its contents into icloud space?

Myself, I cannot abandon 15 years of work.

Having kept all my work in Dropbox, I now cannot find any of it.
I replaced my Dropbox with the latest version because Dropbox sent me an email telling me I must to this.

The result is that I cannot use Finder (this is on my mac).
When I go to anything (say XYZ) in my Finder list, I get the message " 'XYZ' can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found."

For many years I have kept all my work in Dropbox, and for several years have paid Dropbox a subscription. But now I simply cannot reach documents I want to.

By googling, I learn that I should forcequit finder, and then clicked on “relaunch”. I've tried this many times. It doesn't work.
[Everything I read in trying to do something about this makes the assumption that that my Dropbox files are shared, and says I must put in my username at some stage in some process. But I have never shared any files in my Dropbox.]

I have just ignored the annoying red flag and the "Update Dropbox" nag, since December, and I plan to do so forever.

Dropbox appears to have damaged its product and architecture with this release, and I won't endanger my files using what appears to be a badly tested Beta version that is not forced on me.   It is working so I am not going to "fix it."

You say "I should reinstall and not upgrade", but the message Dropbox sent me implied I HAD to upgrade.

Putting this off as long as I can.

Reading all the changes that the new version requires makes me think many things I have been using, linking to and sharing over the past 8 years or so are doomed to break.  I don't see any description of why the massive change in architecture was implemented, or what it makes better, so I will ignore the update now until I know more. Posts like this make me want to stay right where I am.

I have no idea why my first post says "Spoiler". Is Dropbox a movie?
