Our plan is Dropbox Advanced (for a team of 12). When a team member left, their shared files were transferred to me to organize. Everything has been since deleted or copied elsewhere from these files, and yet there is one empty folder that will not delete. When I look at the permissions on the folder, I am the owner and it is shared with no one else. But when I try to delete the folder, I just leave the "Shared" folder rather than it being deleted. Is there a way to remove this empty folder from our files?249Views0likes4CommentsI'm unable to move a folder back to the team space from my personal folder
I saw a question like this in the forum, but the instructions don't seem to apply to me. I noticed that a folder my whole team has access to is now in my personal folder within the team/business Dropbox account. People still have access, but it is in the wrong place. I assume I accidentally dragged it in there. The instructions I've found say I should be able to hover over the folder, see the 3 dots, and select "move," but "move" is not an option that comes up when I do that. When I try to copy or drag the folder out of my personal folder to the main team folder, the message says I can't do that, because I need special permission. I am the account admin (business owner), so it seems like I should have permission to do anything, but apparently I don't. What steps can I take?2.1KViews0likes18CommentsIs it possible to remove Dropbox folders from the 'All files' view?
Hello, Recently, someone in my organization asked about the folders that appear by default in the 'All files' view in Dropbox. (an example of the view is embedded into this message. In the view below, there are folders named "Admin" and "NAMI LACC Team Folder" in addition to a folder the Dropbox uses has containing files they created and edit. The "Admin" and "NAMI LACC Team Folder" are "group" folders that anyone in the organization may access. I want to know if it is possible to remove or move the group folders into another directory on someone's Dropbox directory tree on their hard drive? Or is it possible to just move them to another view besides "All files?" And if so, how would I go about that? Thanks211Views0likes2CommentsMissing a folder - support tells me that the owner deleted it but I am the owner
Hey everyone, I have been working on a file for 8 years as the sole owner and all of a sudden I cannot locate the file. Support keeps telling me that the owner deleted the file and the user must be re invited. Problem is, I am the owner and no one else uses the system. I have tried everything from finding deleted files searching entire site for days. I am desperate to find this file so any help or suggestions would be huge!! Thank you in advance!377Views0likes7CommentsBeing able to find version history for important Team Folders
It would be good to be able to check directly from the list of Team Folders in All Files to show history for the folders. You can show Activity for a folder, but cannot see the history for the folder itself – when was it deleted, restored, created and by which account and device. If not there, then maybe even more importantly this information ought to be available in the Content tab in the Admin console (where you basically have no relevant info at all) AND in the Security tab, where you cannot search on the most important things such as when a Team folder was deleted and by whom – is that not related to security?? As it is now we have to contact support every time someone has deleted an important folder as we may or may not figure it out by looking at individual files that have been deleted – but why this detective work of having to wade through thousand and thousands of files to find basic information about the main folders??320Views0likes4CommentsTeam member doesn't get notified when someone else is editing a file
I have a team member who does not get the automated DROPBOX message when others are in a file. This is a problem, and the main reason I changed my membership, as we can't have multiple people working on the same file-- we lose information. Is this a setting or something she needs to set-up?222Views0likes2CommentsWe've had a massive data loss incident - can we please get some assistance?
I am writing to urgently request your immediate attention regarding a significant data loss incident that occurred shortly after I installed the Dropbox app on my MacBook Pro OS 14 Sonoma on Tuesday, September 24th. On that day, I experienced a mass disappearance of files. I have since spent countless hours working with Dropbox support, with no clear explanation or solution in sight. Despite upgrading to the Business Team plan on Monday, September 30th in an attempt to access higher-level support, I have found myself continuously redirected between chat, phone, and email support, with no meaningful progress. Below is a detailed timeline of my interactions with Dropbox Support: Tuesday, 9/24: Installed Dropbox app on MacBook Pro OS 14 Sonoma. Wednesday, 9/25: First noticed the disappearance of files/folders on the desktop. Chat Support with Marcus: ~1 hour 30 minutes (8:16 pm – 9:46 pm PST). Thursday, 9/26: Follow up on missing file issues as I discovered more missing files. Chat Support with Luis: ~4 hours (2:00 am – 6:00 am PST). Friday, 9/27: Chat Support with Monica: ~1 hour (3:47 pm – 4:48 pm PST). Saturday, 9/28: Email correspondence with Luis. Monday, 9/30: Chat Support with Madison: ~1 hour (12:21 pm – 1:45 pm PST). Upgraded from Dropbox Plus to Dropbox Business to access phone support, in hopes of a faster resolution. Immediately after the upgrade, the folder structure was modified without notice. Tuesday, 10/1: Phone Support with Carrie: 26 minutes (10:52am – 11: 18am PST) Phone Support with Griffin, who escalated the case to the Dropbox Restoration Team:36 minutes (11:34 am – 12: 10 pm PST) Wednesday, 10/2: Email correspondence with Samuel from the Advanced Support team. Phone Support with Ruth due to inadequate information provided by Samuel: 21 minutes (12:55 – 1:16pm PST) Thursday, 10/3: Email correspondence with Samuel—no new information regarding my lost files. Phone Support with Miranda: 45minutes (3:50 – 4:35pm). After 10 days and interactions with 9 different support agents, Dropbox has still not provided a clear explanation for the data loss, nor have my files been recovered. As the owner of a brand design studio, this is an absolute catastrophe for my business. I rely on Dropbox for data security, but the support I've received has been inconsistent and insufficient. I respectfully demand your immediate intervention to prioritize the restoration of my lost data. This situation requires a competent and transparent response to address the ongoing issues and restore my confidence in your service. I appreciate your prompt attention to this urgent matter.599Views0likes8CommentsMy files are gone because I didn't disband my team in time. Can I recover them?
Hi I just received an email from Dropbox saying that all my files are gone because I didn't disband Teams in time. I had reasons for completely forgetting about the deadline on 3 October. I desperately need to get my files back. Can't contact Dropbox. Who knows what I can do? Thanks!140Views0likes1CommentOur company's "master file" disappeared and we can't open other files too
Hi, Our team has quite a massive problem with Dropbo. Our company's "master file" suddenly just disappeared (both online and Mac Finder). Other files are just syncing and we can't open any documents/pictures/videos. Does anyone know what I should do next in order to get this super important master file back?430Views0likes2CommentsMass Deletion - Alert page, File Activity log, and admin Content view need more information
Trying to undo a mistaken Team Folder move outside of Dropbox, in a Team account. - There is an alert athttps://www.dropbox.com/team/admin/security/alerts/which lists the affected folders, their size, and number of files, and the date of deletion. However, there's no way to see the containing folder path (mouseover the folder for a tooltip would be nice), and clicking the folder name/icon should go to the containing folder underhttps://www.dropbox.com/team/admin/team_folders/home/in order to restore the file. Instead the only action option on this page is "Check team activity to see all files". The blue Restore button just goes to the same view, instead of providing the ability to undo the entire action. - The Activity view athttps://www.dropbox.com/team/admin/activitydoes provide path tooltips for some activities, but for the Activity type "Removed user/group from shared file/folder" or "Deleted shared folder from Dropbox", does not provide the containing path. An export of the log also does not. This makes locating the folders to restore more difficult. - The admin Content pagehttps://www.dropbox.com/team/admin/content/homeis effectively a file browser, but quite limited even compared to the default Dropbox file view. Especially, there is no Date Modified, and viewing the Deleted Files, there's no Date Deleted which would be very helpful.398Views0likes1Comment
