dropbox business
109 TopicsHow do I rename the root folder?
I recently joined Dropbox for Business on a trial basis. As part of the process, it forcefully renames your Dropbox folder to "Dropbox (Personal)". I have since decided not to use Dropbox for Business. Although I now only have one dropbox folder, it is still called "Dropbox (Personal)" - it did not automatically change back when the accounts were unlinked. I recently added a Dropbox Business account to my Mac and so Dropbox prompted me to add "(Personal)" in the name to signify which account it was. However, after disconnected the Dropbox Business account, my personal Dropbox folder is still named "Dropbox (Personal)". When I try to rename the folder to just "Dropbox," the computer tells me the "name "Dropbox" is already taken." Is there a way to rename this folder to just Dropbox again? Thanks so much for any and all help!5.9KViews5likes6CommentsNot eligible for Dropbox for macOS 12.5 or later
Hi. I work in an Graphic design agency where we use dropbox as a file server. Work a lot in inDesign and am starting to go crazy not being able to link online files. Therefore we want to upgrade to the new version that supports the Apple silicon API. However, we do not receive an invitation and in settings it says "You are not eligible for the updated Dropbox for macOS on File Provider at this time" Have been in contact with dropboc support several times. Only get stupid answers before they stop replying at all. Please, can anyone help?Solved5.4KViews2likes21CommentsThe upgrade to new new macOS build (one that uses Locations) has been a complete and total disaster
I installed Dropbox on a wiped/fresh install M2 Max MacBook Pro, it prompted me to update to the new Dropbox that uses the Apple Cloud API stuff where it keeps your Dropbox folder in a sub folder of ~/Library and it was so unusable I had to just quit Dropbox and work without it today. I don't even know where to begin there were so many issues. To name a few, though: A person I shared a folder with was saying "the files are corrupt" when he downloaded them, but after investigating I found that the file wasn't even uploaded yet, but showed up in the share on the web as a 1MB file (the source file was over 3GB) and no matter how many times I chose to "Sync Next", the file just never uploaded... I moved it out of the Dropbox folder (which now, it takes forever to even move a file out of the Dropbox folder for some reason like it has to do some behind the scenes stuff to log it or something) and then moved it back in and it still would not trigger a sync... this happened with NUMEROUS files... ALL. DAY. LONG. I've restarted the machine several times and now when Dropbox loads, it's forever stuck in a "Starting..." status but never does anything (I've left it for hours), restarted Dropbox manually, etc... it's completely hosed It seems as though the OS is acting now as a mediator or something because when manually selecting a file to download, it has those icons like in the iCloud folders and that gives it's little circle progress bar and then the Dropbox icon in the top bar will do its thing One of the most frustrating things, too, is the fact that if you have a folder 5 levels deep set to always be offline, all of the folders ABOVE that folder show NO indication that a sub folder is being synced like the old Dropbox (that green outlined icon, not filled)... I can't explain how much of an issue that creates All in all, I'm at a total loss of what to do, nothing works, I have to work without Dropbox as I've lost a tremendous amount of time trying to troubleshoot this today... I'm at the point right now I'm considering cancelling my business plan because I simply don't have the time to waste. I'm not even sure what to even try next as I can't get Dropbox to get out of the limbo "Starting..." state1.6KViews2likes3CommentsFinder and Dropbox desktop app not showing file preview
Hey guys, I just recently switched from Google Drive to Dropbox for Business. Finder on Mac OS 10.14 Mojave and the new dropbox desktop app won’t show file previews of my files, just the Apple default preview logo. However on the iOS app and on the web file previews show. This is a big deal for me because google drive offers this. My team has to have this or we won’t continue to use Dropbox. If anyone has any solutions please advise. I tried closing and opening the app and force quitting using activity monitor. Best Derek8KViews2likes16CommentsSometimes, team members can't see the context menus on Windows 10 and 11
We use Dropbox as our primary server. We're a PC-based company, and the majority of us are on Windows 11, though some are still on 10. We have 10 team members, and we are using 3% of our available space. Several of our team members are having sporadic issues lately where they cannot see Dropbox options when they right click in file explorer and therefore are unable to copy Dropbox links or make the file available offline. We've had to offload Dropbox in some cases and relink - in another case where a team member accidentally dragged his file into a team folder (something that is not supposed to be able to happen according to support) we had to redo the whole thing, as we could not drag the folder back where it belonged. These issues have been happening only over the last two weeks, and it seems odd that it is happening to multiple people. Anyone have any idea of what may be happening here? It's hampering our productivity.492Views1like3CommentsDropbox app for Windows non functional, stuck at "starting"
Hello, Since yesterday, my team (8 users) are encountering problems with Dropbox app for Windows, systems are Windows 10 and Windows 11 so I assume it's not related with any system issues. After restarting the computer, app continues to work for about 5 minutes, after that time Dropbox options from right click menu disappear, and we cannot open any files, that were not downloaded. When we try to restart the app, it keeps getting stuck on "Starting". I assume it may be related with file path limit, but how to identify the long path? Could you please help with the issue? Thanks in advance.945Views1like7CommentsHow user-friendly is Dropbox on web, and how seamless is your collaboration with your team?
