Shared Folders
766 TopicsHow to Leave a Shared Folder
I'm relatively new to DropBox, and I'm using DropBox Basic, with no interest in upgrading to Pro at this time. A client has shared a folder with me that includes many subfolders, and I have just reached my space limit. I'd like to leave some of those subfolders to open up some space. Is this possible, and how do I do it? Is the only solution to leave that top-level folder? If so, will that interfere with the client's ability to share with me more subfolders of that top-level share in future? I need to be able to let the client share new subfolders, while I drop older subfolders to maintain a reasonable amount of space. Thanks!Solved185KViews1like12CommentsDropbox full because of shared folder

I have a folder that I shared over the years that I would like to UNshare, but don't want the other person to know, or, at the very least, be sent an email informing them they are no longer authorized to access the shared Dropbox folder. Case in point, I have a folder I created for a client where the two partners both had access but now one has been bought out in the aftermath of a big hairy battle. I really need to remove the former partner. My question is, Will persons I "unshare" with be notified by email or pop-up notification that they are no longer linked to a folder, or does Dropbox simply make that space available to their quota and nothing is ever said?Solved70KViews3likes5CommentsHow do I leave a shared Dropbox folder?
My friend invited me to share a 3gb folder she had. I accepted. Now I want to leave the folder and cant. I followed the advice from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZoTpNkvPCI The problem is that no folders appear under 'Sharing' in my Dropbox so I cant remove myself. I also looked for other ways to leave the folder but see no option to remove myself. Any ideas on how? ThanksSolved60KViews4likes76CommentsHide the members of a shared folder
Hi, My company uses Dropbox (free and company versions) to share files with external people of the company. We would like to know if it's possible to hide the name and the email address of the members of the folder to the other members. And if it's not possible yet, I think it would be a good idea to improve Dropbox, don't you think?52KViews47likes75CommentsSee what folders a user belongs to
As an admin, I want to be able to easily see what folders a specific user belongs to. I'd love to be a be able to go to the "Members" page, click on a user, and then see a list of all the folders they have access to. If I need to partially reduce a specific users folder access, I would currently have to click "Share" next to each folder and look through who the members were. And even then, if they belong to a folder I don't, I won't know they are on it. I'd also like to be able to change their permission and uninvite them to those folders from that same view. So, once I've opened the "Members" page, clicked on the user, and am looking at the folders they belong to, I'd want to be able to make edits from there.42KViews64likes75CommentsWhat happens when I delete shared folders and files?
I was provided access to files and folders. When I delete the files, does it delete them for everyone that has shared access to the folder? What about permanently deleted files? Can the other members still access those under their deleted folder?Solved29KViews0likes9Comments
