Mac osx - strange extra files appearing when downloading files directly.
Just had a strange issue with some files that I directly downloaded from our DB folders. On the website, I went to one of my shared folders from another team member, and clicked on 2 files (illustrator) and one folder that contained several photoshop images. I chose to direct download option and downloaded them to my desktop. They downloaded to the zip file, like usual. BUT... when I uncompressed the zip file, there was an ADDITIONAL folder named "__MACOSX" - when I opened that, there was a repeat of the same Illustrator files and the PSD folder, but the file names were changed (most had underscores in them). In addition, these files were very small in size (70 bytes for example, when they should have been 3.3MB - same thing for the PSD images they were all around 100kb or less, when they should have been several MB). I asked my co-worker to repeat the process on his computer (different OS that what I'm using, but still on a mac) and he had the same thing happen. Any idea's what's happening? Is this just a glitch? I use Smart Sync I'm on a Macbook Air Ventura13.5.2 I know SmartSync doesn't download the files to your laptop but I'm pretty sureI used to get low-res thumbnails of the images in my Camera Upload folder Since updating to the newest OS that seems to not work anymore and I just see the generic icons now. If I "make it available offline" then it downloads the image and the thumbnail works but I'd love to have a low-res thumbnail so I can tell if I should download it or not.
Backup EVERYTHING to external hard drive on Mac
I have a professional account with about 2TB of data that includes folders on my iMac and online-only folders as well. I want to backup ALL of this information to an external hard drive and need some help/advice please. Clearly, DB does not include a feature to do this (which is completely unsatisfactory). Additionally, now that Apple has restricted the location of my Dropbox folder, I cannot use an external drive as the primary location which would enable me to have a copy of everything locally. Who has solved this problem and would you kindly share your solution. I do not want to leave Dropbox after nearly ten years but this is a deal-breaker for me. Thanks!
Default downloads folder on MAC went missing after uninstalling dropbox on my MacBook
When I installed dropbox on my MacBook few days ago, I synced my downloads folder on my dropbox. After a day I decided to uninstall the dropbox because I just realized I have an iCloud storage. So when I actually uninstalled dropbox, then boom the downloads folder went missing, I cannot access it anymore, anything I airdrop to my MacBook cannot be found. I had a chat with apple support, they told me I should message dropbox support for the matter. Please help me....
Dropbox missing from locations in mac finder sidebar
Since upgrading and having Dropbox move the dropbox folder to locations in my finder, it periodically disappears. I have quit, restarted and have it re-appear again, but it's gone again. I can quit dropbox again, and restart again, but I hope there is a better solution than doing this every few days. Everything else is working -- but saving files has become a pain because I can't choose the dropbox folder in the sidebar.
