30 TopicsEditing PDFs in Dropbox from my iPad
I'm trying to edit/markup PDFs that I have stored in Dropbox from my iPad. I'm using an Apple Pencil that's capable of "markup." The adobe integration was meant to be the answer for this; however, Adobe is now charging extra for the ability to edit. Apple allows you to edit Dropbox PDFs nicely through files; however, this seems to be hit or miss as sometimes the files won't open or get re-directed to Dropbox. Are there other ways to edit PDFs from the iPad and have it sync with Dropbox? This would seem like it should be a top priority for an added feature. OneDrive, for example, has the functionality built directly into their app. Any help would be much appreciated.Solved38KViews9likes12CommentsGoogle Sheets & Slides crashes with Chrome browser
Hoping someone can help as Dropbox is saying this is a Chrome issue and can't resolve. My company uses Dropbox for files. I open excel & powerpoint files from dropbox.com to google sheets & slides. Once I start typing in the google sheets or google slides file, it immediately crashes Chrome. With Google Docs, this isn't an issue with Chrome. It apparently is not an issue with anyone else in the company editing the dropbox.com files using google sheets or slides. Noting, I don't have any issues editing google sheets or slides in Safari with dropbox files, but I would like to avoid using more than one browser at work as we use a lot of Google applications and really only use Google. I've already done the following: Uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome Cleared cookies and cache Thanks for the help in advance!7.6KViews1like51CommentsMicrosoft 365 can't save edits on files from Dropbox - Android
I can't edit excel files stored on Dropbox from my Android device. instead of saving the edits, a new file gets created every time I save the edited file. this is what happens: 1) I open Dropbox app and navigate to a folder with Excel file ABC.xlsx in it 2) I click (touch!) the file, then it gets opened in Dropbox in preview mode 3) I click the pencil icon at the bottom of Dropbox and it opens a menu with the title "Open with...". I click on Microsoft 365 (Office) 4) The file is opened in Microsoft 365 and I can edit it. I do some editing then click on the save icon (floppy drive icon) 5) a new page opens with the title "Save a copy". Dropbox is not directly listed in places I can save the file in. I have to click on Browse then choose Dropbox and navigate to the folder where the original file is stored. 6) I save it with the same original name ABC.xlsx. (technically I'm asking the app to overwrite the original file) 7) instead of overwriting the file, a new file named ABC_19RandomNumbers.xlsx is created. all my edits are save in this new file. the original ABC.xlsx is intact after that, I get 3 notifications from Dropbox a) Changes saved. (1 file saved) b) Upload failed: ABC_19RandomNumbers.xlsx (tap for details) c) Upload complete (1 file added) Specs: Android 10, Microsoft 365 (Office) 16.0.16130.20188 (Feb 22, 2023), Dropbox 318.2.2 (Feb 28, 2023) I have a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription and Dropbox basic free plan Thanks in advance for your help!Solved5.8KViews0likes6CommentsSome Powerpoint Files not Saving using Office Online
Hi, I have a Dropbox 2TB account user who is sharing their files with some users so they can edit the files and save them in the web using the Office 365 integration. The users have noticed that some files (.pptx) that they are editing (approx 250MB powerpoint files - well within the 2GB limit) are not saving the changes they make, even when clicking on the save and return to folder button. I have had the same folders shared to me and i experience the same. We can create new powerpoint files in there and edit them online without issue. We all have A5 MS accounts and i have removed the Office integration from my account and re-added it - no difference. This is not a caching issue either as it's happening on multiple computers. If i install the dropbox client and sync the files locally i can edit the files fine and they will update on dropbox.com. But i still can't edit these updated files on dropbox.com using powerpoint for web even after doing that. If i put the file on my OneDrive account and open the files from OneDrive online they will open in Powerpoint Online and any changes i make are instantly saved. Thanks RichardSolved3.7KViews0likes7CommentsIs it possible to directly open a file with Google Doc
For now, on Mac, there is an option "View on dropbox.com". I'm wondering if there is any workaround such that I can directly open docx files with Google Doc. I understand that I can create GDocs on dropbox, but I do not want to deal with the access permission issues, and I just want to edit the file with GDoc rather than creating a GDoc file. I have tried to play around with the url, but it didn't work. Any help / idea is appreciated.3.7KViews0likes6CommentsCan't open documents in native MS Word or Excel apps both on computer and iPad
I used to be able to open Word or Excel documents in Dropbox by clicking the three dots by the filename and choosing "Open in" and selecting "MS Word" or "Excel." Now, on my desktop computer, I can choose only the web-based Word or Excel, and on my iPad, if I choose "Open in" and click Microsoft Word, nothing happens. I have Word and Excel installed on both these devices, and I have a Microsoft 365 subscription. Does anyone know why I am unable to edit my documents any more? Thanks for any help.Solved2.7KViews0likes6CommentsEditing an Excel file on my iPhone. Is this possible?
Hi, I hope I am asking this question in the right category. If not I am sorry. But my problem is that I have generated an Excel file on my desktop and copied and pasted into my Dropbox. When I open this file in Dropbox on my iPhone I can view, cut and copy the file but I cannot edit it. I have the Excel app installed on my phone, but even using the app the function to edit is not there. Does anybody out there know a solution to this as I am led to believe I should be able to edit this kind of file2.4KViews0likes20CommentsEditing in real time
Hi - from inside Dropbox Teams, I can access to edit all documents, however, I can not see, to edit anything in real time: if I open a doc.x and try to edit it inside Dropbox, it doesn't let me. If I try to click on Open in "Word for the Web" it won't allow mw on Safari bc of cookies (and it's confusing because it says "click here to learn how to allow third party" but then it says Safari doesn't allow it....then when I try to open/edit the document from my finder Dropbox folder, it opens it and only allows me to save it as a new document, not the current one in Dropbox...I'm sure it's a settings thing, but other people in my team can easily do this, and I used to be able to do it but now can't..Solved2.1KViews0likes5CommentsEditing Excel live from Android tablet
I use excel live edit from a computer and laptop and it works great. I can edit on one computer and it updates immediately on the laptop. However, I have purchased an Android tablet and I cannot get it to work with live edits. What I have tried: - I have tried editing via the Dropbox app but that opens it in regular excel and requires Save and that causes file conflicts. - I have tried opening on Dropbox.com website and opening the excel file as the web version (which is what I do on the desktop and laptop). That opens a hard-to-read version of Excel but it's read only. If I want to actually edit anything it prompts me to open on excel which then goes back to being a downloaded copy that isn't a live edit. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for help!1.9KViews0likes5Comments
