Dropbox Plus
723 TopicsWhat happens to my files when I cancel my subscription?
Hi, what will happen to my Files if I cancel my subscription? I have dropbox plus and the number of GB I keep there is more than the limit of the non-paying versions. There are also many important files which are not on my PC anymore and I should download them. Once I've done it, will I have a certain time to download everything? Or will all the files remain available for downloading?Solved102KViews5likes65CommentsDropbox Apple Silicon (M1) install
Hi, I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 13" with the M1 processor and I cannot seem to get a native install of Dropbox for this chipset. From searching the community, it seems like M1 support should be available in the latest installer. However, trying that plus the latest beta build all ask me to install Rosetta during installation. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, WarrenSolved101KViews64likes184CommentsMobile: Exporting: "Save to Camera Roll"-option not available
Hi! I use dropbox to sync up my files from my computer to my mobile devices (iphone and iPad). When I tried this morning to save my files to my phone, I discovered that the "Export"-button was missing and had been replaced by a share button (profile with a plus sign next to it). So my question is: How do I download my files (images in this case) to my camera roll on my phone?Solved75KViews5likes27CommentsUploading photos from phone
I basically got Dropbox in order to move my enormous collection of pictures and videos from my iPhone to somewhere else...The transfer went fine for a while, but then it has stopped and I keep seeing a message saying "waiting to upload". I have quit the application and relaunched, which does nothing. I have even upgraded Dropbox, as I suspect I will need the extra space... There is still over 400 pictures which are "waiting to upload" plus a few videos. And did I mention I started this process 13th of December...?Solved37KViews0likes37CommentsiOS 11 Files App iPad - waiting to download
Using the Files App on iOS 11 - on my 11.2 iPhone 7 Plus everything works perfectly. From the Files App I see thumbnail representation of Dropbox files, I tap the file (e.g. a PDF) and it downloads and opens. On my 9.7 iPad Pro also running 11.2 - same Dropbox account - same files - no thumbnails, and every file tap results in “Waiting to download” and a spinning circle forever. Cleared cache, no Dropbox pin, turned off 2FA, deleted and reinstalled both Dropbox and Files App and same result. Contacted Dropbox Support and got boilerplate “use our app instead of Apple’s” mindless response. Apple support says it is a Dropbox issue. I just want it to work like it does on the phone. Any suggestions?Solved26KViews1like31CommentsDropbox Not working after restart: Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment.
I have been experiencing a very frustrating issue with Dropbox the past few days. Issue: After restarting my Mac Studio (MacOS 13.6.5), Dropbox always gets stuck with the message: Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment. No VPN No Firewall Home Network Fully updated Dropbox The thing that is baffling is that : If you Quit and restart Dropbox it works immediately but if you restart the computer the issue appears again If you wait for a long time Dropbox eventually connects and syncs. But it takes a long time On the same computer, about a week ago, Dropbox was syncing instantly after reboot. I have tried already reinstalling and deleting the cache folder. Is this a known issue that's going on at the moment> Many thanksSolved25KViews11likes120CommentsDeleted files keep reappearing
Hi all, I know that many threads on this issue exist in the forum, but I couldn't find anyone that helped in my case, or the issues are slightly different. Before contacting support directly I thought that it might be good to describe it here in the forum (and hopefully someone can help me :)). I have in my dropbox a couple of PDF files in the main Dropbox folder and a subfolder (which has also one subfolder with ca. a hundred PDF files) that always keep reappearing after I deleted them, usually within half an hour (sometimes it happens instantly). They are not shared. I got this issue only very recently, and some time after I upgraded to Dropbox Plus (last month). Before, I had Dropbox Basic and I really never had this issue (which makes it even more frustrating). I have tried everything that I could possibly imagine. I unlinked all of my devices, reinstalled Dropbox, I reverted to an older version of the files, I put them on the hard drive and back again in Dropbox, I (permanently) deleted them in the browser...nothing helps. When I rename them, they are still added with the original name (the renamed copies stay - I probably could multiply them infinitely like that). These files are not old files from two years ago (saw some people in the forum having this issue). The issue appeared when I put these files and folders originally at the same place where they keep reappering now with their original name. Last week, I moved them to another folder and renamed them, but they stayed in my Dropbox. So I have these files/folders with different names and directory, but their "original" versions keep reappearing at their "original" place. It's a bit like these "original" files are stuck in the cloud servers forever, and they are always put back like that in my own Dropbox. I don't know if there was an issue with the syncing, or some other technical problem. It can also be something I did wrong, though I don't really know what. As I said, never had these issues before and use Dropbox a lot, on at least three devices regularly (Mac and Windows). No device has been added shortly before or since I have this issue. I hope that I could describe my problem with as many details as possible, and hopefully as clear as possible. Thank you very much in advance for your help!Solved23KViews2likes11CommentsNo Option to "Make Available Offline."
Honestly, this seemingly late "bringing to the forefront" (I guess you'd call it) of the whole "Online Only" vs. "Make Available Offline" thing has been more of a headache than a help, if I may offer my opinion. I purchased a new ultra-portable Windows computer which has a 256GB SSD on board, but I plan on using my Dropbox files with it, and I have well over 256GB worth of stuff in my Dropbox. The thing is that I'm often in situations in which I need offline access to my files. So I purchased a 1 TB microSD card, which will never leave its slot in this machine. Heck, I can't even retrieve it, it seems. I mounted it so that it isn't considered "Removable Media" by the computer, and then I proceeded to install Dropbox on the computer, with the intent of using the 1 TB card exclusively for Dropbox content...offline. I left my machine to sync overnight, and what do you know? Everything has a stupid cloud next to it. I have no option to "Make Available Offline," either in the file/folder context menu or in the Dropbox application > Preferences > Sync menu. If this is by design, it's a pitifully stupid design. I'm going to whatever lengths I can to make this work the way I envision, but I'm going to be awfully disappointed if Dropbox doesn't respect use cases that might not necessarily conform to a narrow definition. If it's an issue with a recent update to the application, then please bug the developers posthaste.Solved20KViews1like125CommentsDropbox is stuck syncing after an update, what can I do?
I have the "Dropbox Plus" subscription and I run the client on 4 computers. Yesterday (Monday, 13-Jan-2020) I signed onto my desktop (which is always on) and has a full local sync of my dropbox that a number of new files added Saturday had big red Xs on them -- JPEGs I had scanned Saturday and which were in sync to my laptop on Sunday morning. I checked my other workstation (also always on) and Dropbox wasn't even running. I launched it, and it pretty immediately ran a "one time update". Once this completed, it appeared to go into a full-on sync mode, indexing thousands of files and downloading thousands more (my total dropbox footprint is ~17k files, 600 GB of data). This has been running for 24 hours without making any apparent progress, despite the drive being materially in sync with my first workstation (using BeyondCompare to check). Plus not enough system activity to indicate any actual indexing or download was taking place. I paused workstation 2, uninstalled dropbox on workstation 1 and reinstalled it. Just prior to this, workstation 1 was "stuck" uploading 2 files and downloading 7 files, which it had been on since last night. Workstation 1 now shows "indexing" for around 8k files and "downloading" for 9k files. Trouble is, Resource Monitor doesn't show disk activity or network activity for that kind of activity. What's going on? I was perfectly in sync as of Saturday morning and over the last 24 hours it's gotten bad. Oddly, my laptop ("laptop 1") is apparently fine, showing more or less normal sync status as far as I can tell (and is on build 88.4.172).19KViews0likes165Comments
