Dropbox Basic

I use the Dropbox app on my iphone. I used to be able to open excel files in excel by using “open with - excel”. But now it sends me to a screen saying Microsoft Integration wants permission. I hit the Allow button (the only other option available is “learn more”) and it just takes me back to the list of files in Dropbox. I can never get past that. I used to be able to open them from the Excel app as well, but not now. What has changed and what can I do?Solved7.7KViews1like30CommentsUnable to open Excel files on Android Dropbox mobile app - Office login loop
Hi, I have a free dropbox account and have used it for years to store a few basic excel spreadsheets that I use daily. I have a paid Microsoft 365 account that I use on my android phone and lenovo laptop. For some reason the last few days, I am unable to open my dropbox excel spreadsheets on my phone. When I try to open the spreadsheet I get a log in page saying "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration". I log in using my dropbox user and pw and it just sends me to my onedrive. I have tried deleting the dropbox and 365 apps on my phone and re installing and logging in. I have tried to open the dropbox files by going into excel first and then trying to open the dropbox spreadsheet. Just always sends me to the log in page. It all works fine on my laptop, and after saving, my dropbox android app shows the newly updated spreadsheet. Dont know what has happened. Please help.7.1KViews2likes29CommentsCan I use Dropbox with Office 365?
I recently discovered Microsoft came out with a singular app, so I can delete my Word and Excel apps off of my phone. However, when I open an excel document in Dropbox, then click on the edit button, it asks me to install the excel app. Is there movement to connect Dropbox with office 365, so that Dropbox knows excel documents can be edited by that app instead of excel?Solved6.6KViews0likes12CommentsFailed - Network Error
Using the web interface, I'm trying to download a single audio (.wav) file and after a few minutes it cancels and says 'Failed - Network Error'. On the forum I've found this can happen is (a) the folder has over 10,000 files [this is one file] or (b) It's over 20gb. This audio file is almost an hour long so it could be large but I doubt it's 20gb. I also can't find out the size of any of the files I'm trying to download. Is there a way to check files/folder sizes on the web interface? A few people have suggested it works if they 'download to my dropbox' but when I do that it says my dropbox is full (there's nothing in it) which makes me think the file is larger than 2gb (the limit of my basic account).Do I have to pay for premium to be able to download anything over 2gb? Last question: If I need a premium account, I could log-in to the work account that uploaded the files; can I choose for it to download JUST to my laptop or, like the message says, will it 'download to ALL computers linked with this account'. In the meantime I'll get them to send it me via Google Drive as that works.Solved6.5KViews1like5CommentsMicrosoft 365 can't save edits on files from Dropbox - Android
I can't edit excel files stored on Dropbox from my Android device. instead of saving the edits, a new file gets created every time I save the edited file. this is what happens: 1) I open Dropbox app and navigate to a folder with Excel file ABC.xlsx in it 2) I click (touch!) the file, then it gets opened in Dropbox in preview mode 3) I click the pencil icon at the bottom of Dropbox and it opens a menu with the title "Open with...". I click on Microsoft 365 (Office) 4) The file is opened in Microsoft 365 and I can edit it. I do some editing then click on the save icon (floppy drive icon) 5) a new page opens with the title "Save a copy". Dropbox is not directly listed in places I can save the file in. I have to click on Browse then choose Dropbox and navigate to the folder where the original file is stored. 6) I save it with the same original name ABC.xlsx. (technically I'm asking the app to overwrite the original file) 7) instead of overwriting the file, a new file named ABC_19RandomNumbers.xlsx is created. all my edits are save in this new file. the original ABC.xlsx is intact after that, I get 3 notifications from Dropbox a) Changes saved. (1 file saved) b) Upload failed: ABC_19RandomNumbers.xlsx (tap for details) c) Upload complete (1 file added) Specs: Android 10, Microsoft 365 (Office) 16.0.16130.20188 (Feb 22, 2023), Dropbox 318.2.2 (Feb 28, 2023) I have a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription and Dropbox basic free plan Thanks in advance for your help!Solved5.8KViews0likes6CommentsCan’t edit documents in Microsoft Office
Up until yesterday, I was able to edit documents I had saved in Dropbox Basic in excel or word without any issues (and without a Microsoft 365 subscription). I updated my iPad software to 15.4.1 last night and the edit function is gone. Now when I click on the Microsoft excel button to edit a spreadsheet, I am asked to install excel - however, excel is already installed (see pic below). When I click “open”, it takes me to excel where I get a note that says“This account does not allow editing on your device. For an account with full access, contact your organization about your subscription plan” (see pic below). I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Dropbox and Microsoft office multiple time. Any hep would be much appreciated.4.7KViews1like10CommentsDropbox Shop Preview/Thumbnail confusion
I'd seen previous discussion indicating that Shop creates a thumbnail of an item being sold. Either that was incorrect or settings have changed. I've been uploading images to sell and see the Product name (I'm just using the image file name, which I've customized), but there appears to be no automatic thumbnail generated. In the Shop directions, it notes: Under Preview, click Upload from device or Add from Dropbox. I do see the option for that under "Additional details" for a product. Is there anyway to automatically generate a Preview from the uploaded product, when it's a digital image? It would be ideal if there was a checkbox, for example, to "Create preview from product image." I tried the "Add from Dropbox" using the link provided to "Share" a product image, but Dropbox didn't recognize that for this purpose. I actually do have watermarked versions of all my images available for sale, but uploading those as a Preview image would double the storage use, unless I also first reduce the resolution and/or image size - and I don't know what resolution/size might be recommended for a preview/thumbnail. This is all for a local fund-raiser, so I'm trying to get away with using my Basic plan. (Uploading a second image for preview would put me over my storage limit.) Hi, I hope I am asking this question in the right category. If not I am sorry. But my problem is that I have generated an Excel file on my desktop and copied and pasted into my Dropbox. When I open this file in Dropbox on my iPhone I can view, cut and copy the file but I cannot edit it. I have the Excel app installed on my phone, but even using the app the function to edit is not there. Does anybody out there know a solution to this as I am led to believe I should be able to edit this kind of file2.4KViews0likes20CommentsDropbox Dash extension & desktop apps have same name & m concern about how they are supposed to work
Hello Dropbox team. Today I installed dropbox Dash extension from the MAS. I then discovered that there was a desktop client and proceeded to download it. Upon trying to install the desktop app, I was told that, the extension and desktop app have the same name so I deleted the extension and installed the desktop app. I added bookmarks to the web app to be pulled up in the Mac app and when I typed a search and hit enter, it open a browser tab in the dropbox web app. The Dropbox web app rendered the link with the option to now open the webpage on a new tab that I had requested. What can be done to resolve this and why are the extension and Mac app have the same name. Michael2.4KViews0likes4Comments
