I have a folder I would like to share but it gives me an error saying I can't share because there is a shared folder below. How do I find this folder to move it? There are hundreds of folders and no hint anywhere as to where it might be. I guess I could start trying to share sub branches but this is going to take forever especially if there are multiple ones. I went to the Sharing tab on Dropbox.com but none of my shared folders show there.
Is there an easy way to veiw all shared folders with access to delete old shared members of a folder?

Use the following bash command inside your dropbox root folder to list all shared folders:
grep -r -i --include="*.dropbox" shared .
Dropbox creates hidden Files in folders called ".dropbox". (At least on Linux it does) In my short inverstigation I found that the ".dropbox" contains the word "shared" if it is a shared folder. So you can search for all ".dropbox" files which contain "shared".
Please test for yourself whether that acutally catches all the shared folders.

This is ridiculous. We regularly need to add temps to shared folders, and we want to quickly remove them when we let them go. Right now, it's IMPOSSIBLE to audit what folders are shared and with whom.
I'm assuming this is a business decision to try to push people to more expensive Team plans? Put this feature back, please, it's functionally impossible to use sharing without the ability to also find+remove the sharing.
Lots of people we hire for temp work like to use GDrive, so maybe we'll consider that instead.
This has created a huge nightmare for me - after closing a company I needed to selectively unshare or leave dozens of shared folders without destroying freelancers' access to their own archives, or cutting former clients off from backups of paid-up work.
The help-email hack from Samuel T above saved me, but it's ridiculous that such essential functionality has just disappeared.
Dropbox know who their user-base is. This will mostly impact freelancers and small businesses who can't justify the move from plus to business- and who signed up for 'pro' in good faith before pro was cut back to 'plus'.
I can only conclude this is a deliberate policy to force anyone using Dropbox to earn a living to upgrade to business and spend more for a load of functionality they don't need :-(
I'll be cancelling my renewal and moving to OneDrive - it's nasty but it's way better value if your use office anyway and the functionality is steadily increasing rather than being removed.
Super annoying...please bring it back. So far the only changes I've seen since I joined are a rate increase and more space that I'm not using. As someone involved in many small projects in a non-commercial setting, it makes Dropbox almost unusable for long-term collaberation.
Add my complain too.
I'm a paying customer for yearns now seriously thinking to leave for alternatives as dropbox is stopping usefull services like the ability to easily check what do you share and who you share with.

Dropbox thinks it’s a nice thing removing a basic funtionality? Cancel the subscription and go for an Synology NAS. You‘ll get the exact same cloud functionality for less money, more space and YOU own the data. Did that, best decision ever. For the few shared dropbox folders from friends, I still have the Dropbox free plan.
The only reason why Dropbox does not want anyone to be able to take control over sharing settings is that they want you to upgrade to the business plan for 19EUR/month. Then you can regain control over your sharing settings. Yes, this is outrageuos.
I have been on DropBox for years. First, they catch you with a free account. Then you hit the limits of that free account very very quickly, so they can make you a paying customer (obviously, the typical freemium price model).
But what Drop Box does is one step too much: They tease you, offer you 'great' stuff, tools, options, setting and then remove it in order to make you sign up for the next higher price model that then offers all of this stuff back to you again, like sharing settings. Something you already had!
Sorry, they are litteraly taking the p of their customers.
@MacExpert We're using a Business Standard account. We can't do this. Neither can the Advanced or Enterprise plans. This is the last straw. Tired of Dropbox not being able to do the most basic of management. No filtered views. No reports. An utterly useless excuse for audit logging. Taking all of my clients elsewhere.
