How can I link another user's computer to my free Dropbox account?
I have Dropbox Free and am allotted three computers. I use two. How do I add and sync my wife's laptop as the third. She already has a Dropbox account.
The third would be a third one of your devices using your log ons.
You want to create shared folders between you and her for whatever data you wish to share - just remember it will use both of your quotas: www.dropbox.com/share

This would work if we wanted to share a few files, but we need to share all the contents of my Dropbox.
- RogaaHelpful | Level 5Hi there,
Did you mean that all your files stored on your Dropbox online account will be shared to your wife’s own account so you can work together on those files? And vice versa as well, like your wife may be sharing files with you ? If that is the case, your 2GB may not last for long as it will take both of your storage space.
- RogaaHelpful | Level 5Hi Pw37,
May I know if your wife has the same free plan as yours or she is on a paid plan?
Regarding your intent to link your own Dropbox account with your wife’s laptop , she needs to logout from her Dropbox account on the Desktop App so you can log in yours. Once logged in, the system will now detect your account and will automatically register the device as your 3rd device on your account. Hope that helps .- pw37Explorer | Level 4
This enabled her to see and use the files in my Dropbox and this is what we wanted.
thank you.

She has her own account.

If she is subscribed to one of our personal/individual plans like the Plus plan 2,000 , you might be interested to get a Family plan instead that allows you to share the 2,000 space with up to a maximum of 6 members in the Family , so you can get a bigger space for yourself while maintaining your existing individual account. Sharing of files within the group will be much easier because the group has a default common shared folder that automatically provides access to everyone in the plan if anyone of you uploads files to that folder. So , while your wife is using the laptop, she can just share files with you through the shared folder whatever it is that you need to obtain from the laptop without you needing to log in to your account in her laptop itself. To know more about how Family plan works , you can click this link: www.dropbox.com/family
Hope this helps.
