How to remove the red unread icon in the Windows 11 taskbar?
Using Microsoft Edge on a Windows 11 X64 PC
I tried to follow the Help Center information related to Unread notifications, but the proposed solution is not the same as what I see when I run through the steps.

Why does my Dropbox have a red 1?
It means that you have unread Dropbox notifications. Learn about how to manage Dropbox notifications.
The search sends you to this Dropbox Help

Where it's explained that this is a notification issue

A red circle with a white number on it has nothing to do with syncing. It means that you have unread Dropbox notifications. Learn about how to manage Dropbox notifications.
This links to "Learn about how to manage Dropbox notifications," which opens a second Help Center article entitled "How to turn on Dropbox notifications"

The next link sends you to the article "How to view your Dropbox preferences in the taskbar or menu bar"

My Dropbox taskbar icon does not display any type of avatar, and therefore I cannot click "Preferences." I give a more detailed explanation of what I see, which is very different from what the article suggests.
Running Win11 X64.
When I click on the Dropbox icon on the taskbar, where the red number 1 notification is displayed, I do not see an avatar (profile picture or initials) in the the top-right corner, or anywhere else.
The only info. displayed is a list of files and folders synced, an indicator that reads "Your files are up to date", with an option to pause sync for 30 minutes, 1 hour, Until tomorrow or Indefinitely.
Lastly there is an Upgrade button.
This has been displayed constantly for at least the last 6 months, and I am now trying to find a resolution.
Thank you for any advice.

It looks like you're cutting off the top of the window. The avatar icon is in the upper-right corner, along with the other icons. See mine here, a cat icon.
