view only link for everyone says Join Folder, Copy to Dropbox, Download. I DON'T want Join Folder.
I create printables I share on Etsy, and because the files are so large, I send a dropbox folder link. It USED to be that the page the link went to would have the choices at top Copy to Dropbox and D...
- 9 months ago🗯 Important Update: Removal of the Join Folder Option from View-Only Shared Folder Links 🗯We introduced the capability to join a folder directly from a view-only link to make collaboration even easier. While well meaning, we don’t always get it right. We've heard your concerns, and after careful consideration, we've decided to remove this feature. This change will be implemented
within the next couple of days bymid March.Going forward, recipients visiting a view-only folder link will no longer see the option to Join Folder. No action or setting modification is required on your part. This change affects both new and existing view-only folder links.Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we encourage you to share any further thoughts or questions you might have.

Problem:
The "Join Folder" button creates too many emails when our clients click on it. It also creates confusion on their side. Should they Join? Should they Download? Why haven't we allowed them to join?
It wasn't like that for many years, the sudden change is disrupting our workflow.
Solutions:
- [preferred] There is a toggle in settings to disallow Join and Download, split the toggle in two, so we can allow Download and hide Join
- Remove the Join Folder button from view-only links

The post marked as a solution isn't a solution.

This issue should be fixed as soon as possible, it's frustrating our clients and our whole team. Our team is starting to demand us using another provider.

Hey David125, since we understood that your comments were feedback on an existing feature, we moved the post to the "support" section of the Community, let's say.
But your comments have already been passed along to our team.
Thanks!

Hi Hannah,
Just want to add another voice to say that the 'join folder' button needs to go. About 50% of our transfers which should just be available for download are having the 'join folder' clicked on in error by our clients. Needs to have the option to remove it please!

Dear Hannah,
I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out, along with many others in the digital download community, to express our concerns regarding the recent changes in Dropbox that are significantly affecting our small businesses.
Many of us have tailored our operations to integrate seamlessly with Dropbox. The sudden shift in features or policies has left us in a challenging position. Transitioning to a different platform is not only disruptive but also incurs considerable expenses.
We understand that you are aware of the feedback from our community. However, it seems there's an underestimation of the profound impact these changes are having on our businesses. We are in a state of uncertainty and are seeking clarity.
Could you please provide us with a definitive answer regarding whether these issues will be addressed? Moreover, if there are plans for a resolution, an estimated timeline would be immensely helpful.
We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a prompt and positive response.
Best,

Hannah I understand moving it to support section, but somebody also merged it with another thread which is marked as solved. Our issue hasn't been solved and there is no workaround, so would you mind marking it as unsolved? As you see there are is stream of new people complaining about the same exact thing.

marking it solved when its clearly not solved it means they are just trying to hide their mistake and not going to fix it , its not worth wasting our time on this topic anymore, rolling back to the way it was means months of development and money wasted , as i said earlier more and more people will join forum out of frustration looking for answers and on how to fix it
they really ruined my workflow to be honest
