Sharing files from a friend is filling my DropBox account! How do I stop that?

A friend of mine is collecting a series of lectures, as audio files.  He's asked me to listen and then have a discussion with him about each file.  I just got a notice from DropBox that I'm running out of room in MY account.  What are we doing wrong?  Why should my account be filling?

  • Because you are in a shared folder. Shared folders use up everybodys quota.

If you need just access to listen to them ask him to send you a shared link instead.

I have a similar situation. How do I get rid of the files CURRENTLY filling my Dropbox, which are from my corporate account?

If I try to delete them, the message I get "Do you want to delete these files for everyone", implies that if I delete them from my Dropbox, I will delete corporate files.

I don't really understand how these files ended up in my personal dropbox at all. I figured the app was smart enough to give me a consolidated view of both of my dropbox accounts.

Hey there EventHorizon, how are you today?

Are you talking about shared content? Have you followed these steps, by any chance?

        Let me know more!
