It should not react the way you are describing it, since it cannot detect the uploader's name from within the middle of the filename.
That's exactly how it's behaving. It's looking at the file name for any instance of the name entered by the uploader, and removing it if found.
I have a file request set up to not include the uploader's name. No other options are set. I created three files with the following names:
- Mickey Mouse - Test Account - Company.png
- Mickey Mouse - Test Accounts - Company.png
- Mickey Mouse - Tests Account - Company.png
I then uploaded those files to the File Request and used a name of Test Account. The files I received were named as follows:
- Mickey Mouse - Company.png
- Mickey Mouse - s - Company.png
- Mickey Mouse - Tests Account - Company.png
The first file had the name stripped from the file's name entirely. The second file stripped the name as well, but left the "s" that I added to the end of "Accounts." The last file was left alone since Dropbox couldn't find an instance of "Test Account" in the file name.

I too am having the same issue and the labeling issue has prevented my business from using dropbox on a wider scale. More concerning is the response from Dropbox to Calvin above, that instead of recognizing there is still an issue, Dropbox is essentially gaslighting saying it's not and we all must be doing something wrong.
