Only one tab displaying in spreadsheets stored on Dropbox

This morning when we open our spreadsheets on dropbox only one tab is being displayed and we can't access the other tabs on the sheet , if we download the file and open it all tabs are displayed. They spreadsheets are saved as xlsx files on Dropbox.

Any idea's why this has suddenly happened ? All were fine yesterday

  • Hi everybody,

Our team has made some changes, so please let us know if you're still having issues

To clarify: there is no data corruption (i.e., we are not treating the sheets as a range within a single file). This behavior seems to be our Google editor deprecation banner "hiding the sheets tab," and we'll be adjusting this soon.

    Thank you for your feedback!

    Sam

I am having the same issue and it appeared overnight as other users have mentioned. It's definitely a change on the Dropbox side. The tabs are gone but I can get to them by clicking the down arrow in the upper left hand corner and then selecting from the list. It seems to be treating the sheets as "ranges" within one file rather than separate pages.

    Hi!

I'm working with Dropbox at work > I used to create .xls or .ggsheet on the Dropbox Website and opened them by default on GoogleSheet from the Dropbox Website to work on them and edit them.

I opened a spreadsheet today (which as multiple tabs). The tabs at the bottom of file have disappeared. How do I get them back?

    Thanks!

Just adding in that my company also has this issue and also desperately needs it fixed.

Excel files opened on Dropbox web so viewed via Google Sheets -  a crucial tool for several team-members working on a spreadsheet at the same time.

    Latest Chrome update on MacOS.

  • I am having the same issue. It began once the Starting March 1, 2024 message appeared. My only workaround is to use the search tool for a term I used in one of the hidden tabs. The search tool will jump me into the tab I need, but this is not sustainable.

@Dropbox, remove the March 1 message and see if that resolves the issue

If you dont mind me asking how do you resolve the issue. Has everyone else got theirs resolved also

Though clicking on A1 in the left corner is a workaround to navigate to existing tabs, it doesn't solve the problem long term. The tabs at the bottom popped up this morning for a second and then disappeared again. DROPBOX - do you have a resolution yet?

Hey maireadsullgolf, thanks for reaching out to us.

Are you accessing your Excel files through the Dropbox website, the mobile app or the local Dropbox folder on your computer?

If it's from the web, try to access them through a different browser or a private browsing window and let me know how it goes.

    Thanks in advance!

      Hi Hannah

Thanks for getting in touch. The problem is happening when we try to open the files through google sheets through dropbox. We can only see one tab. when we download the file locally we can see all the tabs and have full functionality. If we try to open in Excel for the web through dropbox we can see all the tabs but we can't edit the file in any way.

It seems like some setting has changed in dropbox overnight

Thanks for the update here, maireadsullgolf.

Can you let me know more about why you can't edit the files through Excel for the web? Are you getting some kind of error?

      Hannah & Dropbox Team,

Has a solution been identified for this issue regarding the missing tabs? Our organization can only use Chrome, so other browsers are not an option.

Also, how can I remove or close out the March 1, 2024 message?

      Thank you for your guidance.

      Sarah

Has anyone received an update about this? We still can't work and haven't had any contact from dropbox regarding a fix
