176 TopicsRemoving external user from all shared folders
Hi Dropbox and forum, There seems to be no way of removing all access of an external user to files/folders shared to him. Lets say you have a team folder with "Projects", and in this folder you have hundreds of subfolders shared with different external collaborators. One user has been invited to 70 of the subfolders, and you need to remove his access to everything. As far as i see, there is no other way to remove this user but to go through every one of the 70 folders and manually remove him. If this isn't possible, it should really be a high priority feature request.4.5KViews9likes4CommentsUser can't belong to multiple teams
I tried to add a team member for dropbox business, but I get the message that she cannot join bc she is part of another team. She works on both projects, and I need her to have access to these files. Why can't someone be part of multiple teams?Solved12KViews4likes10CommentsReceived an email about locked state and that my account would be deleted, but I have a free account
Hi I receive this email yesterday (see screenshot) stating my team is still in a locked state and if it was still in a locked state after August 15, 2024, the entire team will be deleted permanently. We have been using the free basic version for years and never had this mentioned before. I clicked the locked state link taking me to “What is locked state for teams?” help centre page. It gives me two article options – “If youclick on this linkand see a page that says,You’re about to cancel Dropbox for teams and disband the [Team name] team, the information in this article doesn’t apply to your team and you shouldread this article instead. If you see a page that says,Choose what to do with team files and accounts, then the information in this article applies to your team.” When I click on this link, I get this error message - So I don’t know if – You’re about to cancel Dropbox for teams and disband the [Team name] team; or Choose what to do with team files and accounts I then click read this article instead, which opens another tab with the “What is locked state for teams?” help centre page. The article says if my team is in a locked state, which the email says it is, that I wouldn’t be able to create or upload new files and folders, and that I wouldn’t be able to edit them. However, I can upload and edit, so is my team in a locked state? The article also says that if my team is in a locked state, I will know because I’ll see red notification banners at the top of the page on dropbox.com. As you can see from the screenshot of our dropbox page, there are no red banners. So, is my team in a locked state? How have you determined our account is in a locked state?Solved3.6KViews2likes8CommentsAccidentally merged into Business team
Hello, Earlier today we received a pop-up, with the option to add another Shared Folder to our Dropbox. As we are a business in project management, we have many shared folders with our partners and accepted this folder. The pop-up only came with one option and that was to combine. However, this folder has combined our Dropbox with the other teams folder, and now our entire Dropbox folders (even folders we are a member of that are shared from other clients) is merged under theirs. It seems that they do not have access to our folder or our other shared folders. However, our Dropbox name has changed however to the name of the Shared Folder and it seems like we are under their account. Is there anyway to undo this combined sync, as we cannot have our business account merged to another. We just want to undo this action and restore our Dropbox to what it was prior to the invitation acceptance. Thank you710Views2likes2Comments6 digit code not received! Unable to login
I have several clients. Each of them has its own Dropbox Business Standard account. Occasionally, I try to log in, and the account email/password is accepted, but Dropbox requests a 6-digit code we never receive in our mailboxes. Of course, I checked Inbox and Spam folders, but nothing was there. This happens from time to time, it's really annoying. Now one of my clients needs to renew and was about to access the admin console to check renew dates, prices, etc and I cannot login. I'm setting up a new Team Folder. Previously, users only saw the folders that they had access to. Now, all folders are listed. Those that they don't have permission to see are showing up with a Folder/Building/- symbol indicating that they don't have permission to see what's in those folders. I don't want unshared folders to be visible to everyone. Some of these folders are top-level company members only. I know this has been addressed in the past and at that time the only workaround was to set up all of the folders in your Personal Team Member folder. I am really hoping that there has been a change in the parameters since this post was made and resolved. https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Security-and-Permissions/Creating-locked-folders-that-are-invisible-to-rest-of-your-team/td-p/269177 This option seems like it would be an essential option everyone needs. Does one really need everyone on the team to know that there's a folder for Company Payroll or Payroll Review? or even as basic as Accounting? In my experience, people only want to see in the folders that they know the name of but yet don't have access to. I'm doing a Dropbox cutover this weekend and just discovered this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!! The worst case is that I set them all up under my personal folder now and move them out if I find out that there's a better resolution out there. Thanks, community!!!Solved5KViews2likes18CommentsDropbox Business: Can't see team folders from applications with Dropbox access
Hi Dropbox Forum, I'm a Dropbox Business user. Everytime I use any program with access to dropbox, I can only see the personal folder (the purple one). I need access to the team folders (the blue ones) so I can get files that's shared within our whole team. Some of the programs are Backpack Studio, Synology, Akeeba backup and, from one of the big developers, Premiere Rush by Adobe. Can anyone help me with this issue?Solved9.3KViews2likes17CommentsI'm a Dropbox team member; How can I make myself an admin?
Hello there, The person that created our Dropbox is no longer interested in being the "Owner" and will not help on passing the torch. I am a user and on the Board for the Not-For-Profit that utilizes the account. I need to remove him and make the society the owner. Help please!!Solved970Views1like9CommentsCan we disable the team member folder?
PLEASE allow Admins of Business accounts to disable the auto-generated personal folder that is in each user's Business Dropbox. For my business, as well as many other businesses, having a personal folder in each user's Business Dropbox poses many problems. At the VERY LEAST, allow us to change the name of the personal folder so it's not directly tied to the user's name. If I could at least rename the folder to "DO NOT USE", without having to make that the user's name, that would be useful. First, it confuses employees, who mistakenly move or save files into this personal folder instead of the shared team folders. Second, it can cause naming problems, as I name my users by generic names instead of their personal names, because employees change often. For example, my user account names for my 3 users are the same as my shared team folder names. So now, when user "Financial" access their Dropbox, there is a shared team folder called "Financial", as well as their personal folder called "Financial" that cannot be renamed. Employees will absolutely be confused by this and put things in the wrong folders.... all because Dropbox has forced these ridiculous personal folders onto us. Third, most businesses require complete control over their cloud file sharing system, and the files within. Each user having their own personal folder causes a big problem for data security.563Views1like2CommentsMove files to the new Personal Folder (as Admin)
Following the update to the new Dropbox file system (Changes and updates to your team account - Dropbox Help), users now have their own "Personal Folder". Before this change (and as Dropbox did not have this feature), we had created an Employee Team folder with a subfolder for each employee, and they had sole access to this folder as their personal folder space. When the new file system was rolled out, users lost access to the old personal folder and needed to get access again by making a new selective sync. As the Admin, I would rather move the contents of the old subfolder into the new Personal Folder instead of asking 200+ users to again sync the old folder and cause potential confusion between these two setups. I would like to do this through the Admin console. However, I cannot locate where I can manage a user's Personal Folder or move content into that, from another folder in the team folders.1.1KViews1like2Comments
