Sync
12 TopicsCreating a shared file system with user-specific object-level access, which plan is good?
Dear all, I want to create a synchronized file system across two users working on different platforms. I need to control users' access to folders and files, while preserving the team's folder structure. Specifically, I want to give access to specific parts of the file system to different users without requiring them to reorganize their folders manually in order to reflect the team's hierarchy. Is there a way to set up such a structure ? If so, which subscription plan is required, and how should I proceed to implement this ? As it is for a personal (family) purpose, is Dropbox Family adapted ? I thank you in advance for your help.Solved618Views0likes6CommentsFalse missleading emails
Just got a email with the Title ":warning:Action requested: ****, your files are about to stop syncing!" Only for it to be a sales email telling me to upgrade my accout The accout has be used to archive some stuff and has not been added to in ages and has over 400MB of the 2GB free. "NOTICE: ****, your files will stop syncing soon." "Your Dropbox storage is reaching maximum capacity. Adding one more file could fill up your account—and keep you from syncing and accessing your files when you need them." Yes and adding 100 small files may not fill up or I may delete stuff to free space and it may never fill up This is nothing but false underhanded scare tactics spam to get people to upgrage. If this is not true please explain why my files will stop syncing Soon If I stay below my limits?7KViews8likes11CommentsNot sure about the differences between the Standard and Business plans

Hello and thank you in advance for taking the time to read me. My client currently hosts the data of its 4 companies on a single Dropbox Business account. He would like to clearly separate these entities by creating 4 accounts, one per company. Is it possible to synchronize 4 Dropbox Business accounts on the same workstation? I'm having trouble finding a clear answer to this question.531Views0likes1CommentWill adding a second account require data from the original to be re-synced?
Link or unlink two Dropbox accounts - Dropbox Help In order to use the desktop app and maintain data sync of the original account, when you add a second account will this require the original account's data to be re-synced, or does it simply set up a second location for the new account data and leave the original data unaffected?Solved739Views0likes1CommentConsequences for late payment of subscription
Hi there, I have 2TB plan ( which I have been on for years) and it is two weeks overdue for payment of the subscription plan. Wondering what the consequences of this will be if I still am unable to pay it for another couple of weeks. Will all my stuff just stay there, and I won't be able to sync until paid? Will I still be able to access it? and when I pay will it all be back to normal again? I tried to search this info elsewhere but couldn't find the answer. Thanks in advance for your help!Solved822Views0likes2CommentsMy account won't sync, even after I upgraded to a paid subscription; still says I'm on Basic
After getting an email saying I needed to upgrade my account, I logged into my apple ID and upgraded. Yet the account will not sync and still says I need to upgrade my account. It's maddening! I'm unable to contact support to fix the issue as when I login it still says I'm on a Basic account even though I have a paid Plus plan. Would love to be able to fix this if anyone has any suggestions or a direct support contact!Solved810Views0likes3CommentsCredit Card Charge Checker
I'm on a new computer, and I'm trying to log into my upgraded Dropbox account with all of my files. I logged in with what I thought was my correct email account, but none of my files are showing up. And, it's also not my upgraded account. I tried to use the credit card charge feature to look up my associated account, but that's not working. It's supposed to be 12 characters, but the charge on my account is 15 characters. I really need to speak to someone in customer service about this, but apparently that's not an option. This is incredibly frustrating and not a customer-friendly process or service at all. How can I get synced up to my account?8KViews0likes7CommentsCan I change the currency without losing my files?
Hi everyone, I just moved from Canada to the US, and thus I would like to pay my Dropbox subscription using my US credit card. According to this discussion (https://help.dropbox.com/accounts-billing/payments-billing/change-billing-currency), I have to cancel my current Dropbox subscription and re-subscribe using a new billing address in your desired country. My worry is that once I cancel my subscription, I will lose my online files. I have many files (200 GB) which are only stored online, but not in any local computer. The previous discussion on this topic (https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Accounts-billing/I-d-like-to-change-my-Dropbox-plan-amp-revert-back-to-a-personal/m-p/312619#M24736) only said that Dropbox just won't synchronize, but it did not explain what would happen to the online-only files. Please let me know what's the painless way to do this. Thank you all!Solved9.2KViews2likes19Comments
