66 TopicsHow can I cancel my computer backup?
I apparently selected pc backup when I installed Dropbox and naturally I'm out of storage on my Dropbox account now. I don't want and have no need to have my pc backed up to it. I have the desktop app but am not able to find the preferences section to stop it from backing up. I did try just deleting My PC from Dropbox but a message comes up and says if I delete "My PC" it says it will be removed from my Dropbox and from the computer. If I delete it in Dropbox, does that mean I'll lose everything on my laptop too? Sorry if it sounds like a newbie question but I am. 🙂 Any help stopping the PC backup would be greatly appreciated.Solved23KViews2likes58CommentsRecovering deleted files (older than 30 days)
I have a Dropbox Basic plan - and to date, I've only been on that plan. I deleted files more than 30 days ago (but less than 180 days ago), which means they aren't available for me to recover. With the Dropbox Professional plan (and similar plans), I'm able to recover files that were deleted up to 180 days ago. Does that mean that if I now upgraded to one of those plans, I would be able to recover those files I deleted between 30 and 180 days ago? Or would I have had to already been on one of those plans before I deleted the files, in order to be able to now recover them?Solved9KViews1like18CommentsStorage says it is full, but it is not
Hi, I'm new to these forums, so please bare with me. I have an account with folders shared with me by my employer. We have plenty of storage, but when I log in I see a message every time saying I am almost out of storage. No one else on my team sees this when they log in. I did previously have a large folder with a lot of images in it, however I have completely deleted that as well as deleted it from the trash. When I click on the plan page, here is what I see: Personal Dropbox spaceUsing1.93 GBof 2 GB Regular files (0 bytes) Shared files (1.93 GB) Unused space (74.18 MB) I would love to speak with someone at DropBox directly, but it does not look like that is an option. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance!Solved8.6KViews1like55CommentsHow long does Dropbox keep my files, without me logging into the account?

My drop box is apparently too large, and I think it's because I have many shared folders with other organizations (I'm a consultant, so these folders generally belong to the organization I'm contracted with). I need to know which folders are the biggest so I can figure out how to fix the size issue, for example by asking to be dis-included for folders related to projects I'm no longer involved with. But the instructions I've googled for how to find the size of each folder have been USELESS. I'm trying to do this via the web interface. I do NOT have a "size column". Don't ask me to click that unless you can first instruct me HOW TO MAKE IT APPEAR. Alternate instructions say to simply hover my cursor over a column header to find "size" that way. But simply hovering over a column header does NOTHING, meaning nothing shows up, no options, just absolutely NOTHING AT ALL. I cannot select "size" this way because there is NOTHING to be selected AT ALL. If I left-click on a column header, it simply re-arranges the files, still without showing me any options to select from. If I right-click on a header, it shows me the following options I can select, NONE of which include "size": Multi-file organize Set naming convention Show deleted files Request files Rewind this folder Please advise.Solved4.1KViews1like4CommentsAuto delete files after a certain amount of time
Hi! So I have a folder on Dropbox which i use to send files to a client. Over time this folder gets bigger and bigger, filled with more and more files. Is there a way i can set an expiration date on a file, so that it gets automatically deleted? ie. I send a file in March, i set a timer on it so that by May 1st it auto deletes. This would mean i wouldn't have to stay on top of the large amount of files I'm sending, plus it would constantly keep the folder a little more bearable, and would free up Dropbox space. Many thanks!2.5KViews3likes2CommentsIf I delete photos on my phone gallery, will they remain on Dropbox?

I tried replying to other posts on this matter but for some reason I was not allowed so I created this new post. My DropBox says it is full however I deleted lots of files/folders. The status bar briefly showed that I had deleted large quantities of data and I was in great shape however shortly there after it said it was full again. I have one shared empty folder that I am using to setup file sharing and that is it.Solved3KViews0likes19Comments
