64 TopicsUser restrictions on bulk deletion or moving
It would be great if it were possible to set a user so they cannot perform bulk deletions or moves of files. One of the users, who does not have admin rights, accidentally moved a folder with 350,000 files. As a result, we lost the functionality of the links when returning the folder back. It would therefore be great if some users could be restricted so that it is not possible to move or delete files beyond a certain quota.228Views1like3CommentsDisable folder deletion in team space for team members
We have issues with users accidentally deleting entire folders, unfortunately this seems to happen on our larger teams that have a lot of data in their folders. This means a lot of down time waiting for help recovering the folders/files. We regularly train our users not to delete folders but it happens anyway. Our users need to be able to edit files, but there is no reason for them to be able to delete entire folders. Having a function to prevent users from being able to delete at the Folder level would prevent a lot of down time as well as having to escalate recovery to DropBox.254Views0likes3CommentsAdd the option to remove metadata from files before sharing
Dear Meta Team, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to suggest a feature for Dropbox that I believe would greatly enhance user experience: the ability to remove or edit metadata, specifically location data, directly within the platform before sharing files. Currently, the process of stripping metadata requires additional steps that can be time-consuming and inconvenient. Implementing a feature to manage metadata directly in Dropbox would save users a lot of time and effort, particularly for those who often share videos and images. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I appreciate the continuous improvements to your services and look forward to any updates. It would be great to have a setting that determines how long the vault on mobile devices and the website stays unlocked. I read that the vault on mobile stays unlocked for only 3 minutes. That's entirely too short and so inconvenient. The vault also seems to lock immediately if you switch applications for a few moments and then go back to it. Again, there should be a setting giving preset options for how long you want the vault to stay open like (Default=3 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours). Another option is displaying a prompt with the same options when you open the vault so the user can select it at that time. Perhaps these options only become available on mobile if the users device or app meets other criteria, like having a passcode/pin/biometric unlock set on the device and or having one of those options set in the app.2.3KViews3likes5CommentsUse the admin 'Sign in as User' feature on the desktop app
It would be great toapply the "sign in as user" feature to the desktop app. I would like to set up a device before giving it to the user, but don't want to go through the process of getting their password, and coordinate receiving codes364Views0likes2CommentsTimer when viewing shared files
I believe that Dropbox is a very good application, but I think they should implement something it lacks, which is that when you share a file and disable downloads for viewers, you cannot activate "offline viewing." What I suggest is implementing a type of timer for the file. For example, set a continuous usage time of two hours. If the user does not have it but uses it for two hours in a row or adding, when the two hours of use are completed, the file will be deactivated1KViews0likes4Comments
