39 TopicsNaming convention not working on video files.
When logged into the web (Firefox as the browser), I set a naming convention for a folder so that it lists the Date Captured, then lists the time from the metadata: YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM. When I did this, it worked for all of the photos I added in, but it didn't work on the videos at all no matter what I tried. Is this not working because it's the date "Captured", which doesn't really apply for video files? I don't want to use the "Date Uploaded", since that could mess up my own file organization, but I'm not sure what to do here.1.7KViews0likes27CommentsDropbox changes the modification and creation dates on all folders on the desktop app.
This is a problem since I cannot locate the most recent folders out of thousands easily. I use Drive for other backup items and it doesn't change my dates. Please fix this issue. I've seen others on the Community requesting the same fix.293Views0likes4CommentsEvery time I move a file btween shared folders it'll recreate the file of 0 bytes in original folder
Say I have this in my Dropbox: ~/Dropbox/shared/folderA/foo.txt ~/Dropbox/shared/folderB/ The folder "~/Dropbox/shared/" is shared between 2 Dropbox accounts. Then I move "foo.txt" from "folderA" to "folderB": ~/Dropbox/shared/folderA/ ~/Dropbox/shared/folderB/foo.txt The move operation succeeds as expected but after a few seconds "foo.txt" would reappear in "folderA" though its size is 0 bytes: ~/Dropbox/shared/folderA/foo.txt (0 bytes) ~/Dropbox/shared/folderB/foo.txt This is 100% reproducible and it happens on both macOS (Dropbox account #1) and win10 (another Dropbox account #2). For now I have to manually remove the 0 bytes file each time I move a file between folders. Any idea? UPDATE 10/08: Just tried and it turned out this can also be reproduced from Web browser (I'm using Chrome) and iPhone's Dropbox app.839Views0likes20CommentsJPG images uploading from my iPhone 11 to Dropbox as PDFs
All of my JPG images in Dropbox on my laptop have converted to PDFs and are uploading as PDFs from my phone. On the Dropbox app on my phone the images are still JPGs. Can anyone tell me the setting to convert everything back and have my uploads remain in JPG format? Adobe won't even let me open the PDFS saying I have to upgrade to Pro!164Views0likes1CommentMany team members can't see on their desktop app the files I've moved, or they get an error.
Hello. I use the web version of dropbox (www.dropbox.com) to organize files. Many of my team members prefer to use the DESKTOP version of drop box and open files through File Explorer. Many of the files that I've "moved" or reorganized via the web version cannot be seen by my colleagues who use the desktop version. Can anyone shed some light into how we fix this? The error message these users get indicates the file isn't found or can't be opened.Solved323Views0likes3CommentsMissing context menu item for the "Don't sync to Dropbox" feature
Searched all available help and couldn't find anything related to this. I'm missing the right-click context menu to "Don't sync to Dropbox" I'm on a plus paid plan, restarted dropbox, restarted computer. I used to have it since I have several folders that I had enabled it on. Those folders are missing the context menu to bring them back.Solved278Views0likes2CommentsI'm trying to drag photos to a shared folder, but they won't get moved

A friend shares a folder with pictures with me via a Dopbox link. I’m viewing the pictures in Dropbox and when I like a picture, I want to copy this picture to my Dropbox space and then go on with the rest of the images from my friend’s link. The problem is that when I click on Copy to Dropbox, I have to select a destination folder each and every time, but most annoyingly, I land on the copied picture instead of on the original one. Thus I have to go back to the email and click again on the link. This happens every time I copy a picture. Is there some more efficient way how to achieve this?801Views0likes5CommentsMac OS - Files switching to online-only despite settings
Mac OS Sonoma 14.3 on a MacBook Pro M1. I have the DropBox preference Sync > New file defaults set to Available Offline - yet a lot of files are shifting to Online? This happens even when setting files and folders manually to Offline. My hard drive is getting to about 90% full, would this be why? Is there a way of making files absolutely stay Offline? Thanks!718Views1like4Comments
