I had my own Dropbox professional account. I was then added to another law firm's Dropbox account - a Standard account. I received my refund from Dropbox since I paid for the Standard account annually. I do work for this other law firm from time to time and need regular access to it. I now need to add an employee to my own law firm who does not need access to this other law firm's Dropbox but does need access to my firm's files. However, I am now in the other firm's Standard plan. How do I make it so I can add a new user that only has access to my firm's files and not this other firm while also making sure I have access to both the other firm's files and my own? Greetings, all! I've been through the community posts, Googled, searched Reddit, etc....no luck so far on this one. I've received an invite to a Dropbox Family Plan, but when I try to accept the invite using the "Join" button, it gives me a vague exception at the bottom of the screen: "An error has occurred. Please contact yourfamily manager for help." But I'm on the phone with my family manager, and he doesn't see anything useful on his side. I've gone through the Troubleshooting on the help site (https://help.dropbox.com/plans/troubleshoot-family-plan), but none of those things seem to apply to my account or this situation. I've tried multiple browsers, with/without VPN, cleared cookies, etc. No joy. Ideas?Solved3.9KViews0likes18CommentsChanging to another business team
Hi! I've been part of a business team with one company, but have now move to another company. I've been deleted as a team member from the previous company's dropbox (confirmed as I no longer had any access to any of the team folders), but the new company still gets the error message " this user is already part of another team" when trying to invite me to join their dropbox. Does anybody know how to solve this please?Solved3.2KViews0likes5CommentsShould I combine my account or create a new account??
Hey! I was sent two emails from my company during the onboarding process. The first was to access a specific teams folder, the second was to join their DropBox team. I followed the link to access a specific teams folder first which prompted me to create an account. Once I followed the second link to join their DropBox team, it said I already had an account (from the first link) and that I would need to either combine the accounts or keep them separate and create a new account. I'm a little nervous to combine the accounts because it seems like there are some stipulations that will treat my account differently than it would if I had joined the right way from the start. The first account was created using my company email which I imagine I wont be able to reuse if I create a new account. Does anyone have a suggestion on what the safest route is to not mess up my company's dropbox on the first day and still be able to use my work email as my main account? 🙂 Thanks!Solved2.8KViews0likes7CommentsPersonal account to Business account - All files gone
This will be a long post as I've never experienced any thing like this: 1.) I have had my personal Dropbox account for so many years and been paying the PRO-subscription for couple of years. It's all sorted out, some files offline, some online and I was using 1.2-1.4TB of 2.1-2.2TB available space. 2.) I also have a work email and that email is part of a team-Dropbox (business dropbox). I sometime use it to access work related stuff but I don't use it often 3.) My boss was trying to share some folder which would require 24/7 real time sync between us two (he is the admin account for my work-team-business Dropbox plan) but since I don't have my work Dropbox offline-synced I wanted to use my personal account or that BUT he couldn't share the folder with me because Dropbox said that email wasn't part of his Dropbox-Team. 4.) My boss deleted/removed my work email from the work Dropbox and added my personal account to his Dropbox-business/team account and paid about 10-15$ for it. Then things started to go south. 5.) I get this email saying I have to either A) Merge my personal dropbox to the work/business Dropbox or B) Keep them separate. 6.) I ofc choose separate but then Dropbox asks me to set the app up again on my computer and to choose a new place for me offline-Dropbox folder. 7.) I can't remember all of the things that happened but my files were gone, I had nothing in my personal account anymore, 1.2TB of data was gone. All of my pictures of my children and memories from the past years. So I panic and tell my boss to remove me BUT do it in the right way and convert my account back to a personal account like your website says it should be done. 8.) He does that and I can sign into my personal account again (removed per the Community's Guidelines) but still everything is gone and I have nothing in there. It says my data plan is 2GB a month.. I used to have 2.1TB a month! 9.) He then tried to add my old work email back to the team ) just to see what happens and I do that and all of a sudden I see all my personal files in the Dropbox.com website when logged in via my work email !!! 10.) Now I have two Dropbox folders on my computer a) Dropbox (Personal) and b) Amenic ehf. Dropbox (the name of the company I work for) and in there is a folder named ''Fannar Freyr'' (my name) with all my old stuff (1.2TB) but I have to be logged into my work email (removed per the Community's Guidelines) to see it So I'm absolutely gutted and devastated. My account is gone. It's a total total mess and I'm so angry and frustrated How can I revert everything back to like things were? I just want my personal Dropbox account to be exactly like it was 2 hours ago. I want all my stuff inside THAT account, not linked with my workplace-Dropbox account. Please help me2.5KViews0likes14Commentstrouble with unlinking of accounts
I made a mistake today that I am unable to recover from. I was sent an invite to Dropbox business. I need to share files with another company. My mistake was when Dropbox gave me the option to link this outside business account to my own personal account, I clicked "yes". Apparently I have saved some money, but on the downside, I no longer have control of my account. Since I am only loosely tied to this company, this is unacceptable. I have (or had?) a Dropbox Plus account, which I understand gives me access to live support. This seems to have been disabled, probably since I am now just a "team member". This is especially aggravating, since the problem I am trying to solve has apparently disabled my opportunity to fix the problem is a quick manner. (I set in an email.) I attempted to fix the problem through the website. There is a help page on how to unlink accounts. I logged in to Dropbox, selected the "General" tab and clicked on "Link accounts", which is supposed to allow me to unlink my account. The interface asked me to log in again. When I clicked on "Sign In", I was told that I already signed in to that account. Stuck. It would not allow me past this point. It would appear that I no longer have authority to regain control of my own account. Any suggestions would be welcome. I hope that someone at Dropbox is monitoring this and has the authority to make sure that this never happens again to a loyal customer.2.1KViews1like9CommentsJoining a Business team, and what is the best way to do that?
I have a personal dropbox under a personal email, but now my new company wants me to join and share their dropbox. How do I best do that? Do I need a totally new account with a different email address and log in, or can I add this new team folder to my existing personal account? The company invited me to my personal email, but when I clicked the invite I got these two strange choices that made no sense. One involved effectively transferring all of my personal files to the company team one (i think!)2KViews0likes6CommentsInvite to my Employers Dropbox wanting me to subscribe or upgrade
I had access to my employer's account but it was linked to an old email address I no longer have access to. Now my Boss has invited me to join his Dropbox folder again to my personal Dropbox account, however, Dropbox wants me to subscribe or upgrade to a Business account in order to join his account as a staff member. How do I fix this, I don't need a business account.Solved1.8KViews0likes12CommentsI asked a team to invite me, cause I didn't have space, but that didn't work.Am I part of the team?
Hi I am currently doing some work for a not for profit organisation, when i started a couple of months ago i was using my personal account and when that reached the max 2GB I asked the organisation about a team account. They did say that they do have a paid account. I was 'invited' by one of the admins and when I logged into the invite I ended up with similar situation with only 2GB. Before i go back to the admin person and show my ignorance, should there be some of special credentials that need to be used to login or should my own email and password get me to the paid team account. Is there a way of seeing if I am logged into a team account? As you can guess I am a newbie to Dropbox. Hope someone can direct me in the right direction. ThanksSolved1.2KViews0likes4Comments
