4 Topicsold_files cache folder occupying too much space on Ubuntu
My hard disk space is running low regularly because the old_files folder in the dropbox cache takes too much space (40+ GB). I have to manually delete this folder every couple of days now. Is there a way to limit its size or to have it deleted automatically? I am using dropbox on an ubuntu system.941Views1like5CommentsDropbox on Linux: Selecting alternate Drive for Location
Long time user of OneDrive on Windows but moving to Linux Mint, and with no support for OneDrive on Linux, I have once again taken up a subscription to the Dropbox service. Glad they are reading the market's distrust of Windows 11! So installed Dropbox on Windows and that's working fine as always, but moving to Linux Mint with dual booting for now. On Windows I have selected where I wanted the local storage folder to reside on a drive other than the System C: drive, but this seems to be missing from Linux. I installed the Flatpak version 204.4.5420 and at the suggestion of another help site also installed Flatseal and gave Dropbox access to all options available in the Filesystem section, including specifically "/media". Yet I seem only to be able to select a folder under /home/username. I have access to all the drives on the computer (including a Windows drive, the Data drive where Dropbox data is, etc) but I can't make Dropbox on Linux see any drive. What I would like to be able to do is have one drive that has the Dropbox folder that both Windows and Linux access. This would save on hard disk space, and the few days it's going to take to sync the files to the Linux folder. Even if Windows wasn't a consideration, I'd still prefer to have my Dropbox data on a separate Data drive like I have always had, more for disk space management and backup processes than anything. Anyone had any success in choosing an alternate folder location on Linux?1.7KViews0likes1CommentLinux Computer Backup is taking up my Dropbox space
I tried to install Dropbox Backup in my Linux Mint computer, not realizing it would send me over my size limit. So now Dropbox is not operating. How do I remove Dropbox Backup? Maybe its installation stopped when my Dropbox hfolder reached its size limit?1.5KViews0likes3CommentsCan I delete the dropbox-dist-tmp folders on linux?
I keep getting a message from Dropbox that it cannot sync because I am out of disk space. I used a disk space analyzer and it turns out that Dropbox itself is using approx 600MB accross multiple folders with the name dropbox-dist-tmp-XXXXXX (they are located in my /home/): > du -sch .dropbox* 2.2M .dropbox 191M .dropbox-dist 159M .dropbox-dist-tmp-7hyie7y2 113M .dropbox-dist-tmp-d75lfgzf 132M .dropbox-dist-tmp-txi2smoy 596M total I've looked at these folders and they all seem to contain the same thing (except for the .dropbox). I've googled and found this somewhat similar issue on the Docker version of Dropbox. Can someone confirm that these are just cache files? Is it ok for me to delete some or all of them? Thanks PS: I am on Ubuntu 16.04 and I am not using any simlinks.Solved3.8KViews0likes5Comments
