Dropbox Plus
64 Topics"Error - Something went wrong" message when I try to open my files online
I'm accessing my Dropbox Plus account online from a laptop I have not used for some time. I can login, see my account details and my directories and files. If I try to open any file I immediately get the Dartboard and "Error -Something went wrong" message. If I try to access support I get the same message. Any ideas how I can proceed?141Views0likes1CommentI put all files available offline, but Dropbox doesn't download them.
Hi! I recently bought a new Macbook and wanted to sync my files to my new computer. Unfortunately, I am unable to download all the files. They are mostly kept in the cloud. I changed the preferences to offline in the Dropbox settings, but this did nothing. What to do? I need to have all my files available offline, because the cloud version prevents me from searching files and file contents via Spotlight and browsing through pictures is a drag. I have the latest Dropbox, 2TB subscription, Macbook M3 Pro, all the latest updates.640Views0likes8CommentsExcel files all open as corrupted files
Hi. I have a large amount of excel files stored in my dropbox..... Yesterday they opened and worked ok, but today, they all generate an error when being opened which reads..... "Excel cannot open the file '<filename>.xlsm' or <filename>.xlsx because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file" This occurs on 4 different computers running the latest Office365 version. Ive also tried downloading the file and then opening, but the same error message is generated. The files also will not open in the online version of excel or the quickviewer. We're talking about hundreds of excel files which were all working then suddenly are not. Any help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Dropbox Plus. Uploading a scanned PDF, it never gets OCRed to be full text searchable. Chatted with support for ages until they finally decided “oh, that feature requires Pro or above, not Plus because that’s considered image search.” Even though the image search support doc specifically mentions formats NOT including PDFs. So is that true? A paid Plus account can’t OCR PDFs? If so, (1) Dropbox needs to update their docs because I wasted SOO much time on this today. (2) That’s ridiculous to offer scanning to PDF and full text search but not OCR. And I guess I’ll have to switch to Google.6.6KViews0likes22CommentsHuge problem with Dropbox corrupting .pdf files.
Last week . Our offices started experiencing problems with dropbox. We would drop PDF files into folders and five minutes later they are corrupted. We have tried clearing our cache. We have tried getting support. I don't really understand why I can't get anyone to help me here. Does anyone know what t o do?3.3KViews0likes10CommentsSharing a Link & Edit Syncing
I have been working on a power point document saved to my dropbox - when I click the "copy path" link and share - no one can open because it's picking up my C drive. I'm also concerned that changes aren't accurately being tracked - it's impossible to work out of the browser and have access to all of the same features and functionality. Is the only way to share a file link is to pull directly from my dropbox in the browser? This is beyond frustrating and becoming dangerous respective to syncing. Please help - I'm very close to shutting down my DB account after over 10 years of paying for it - but these are becoming HUGE issues for me. My thanks in advance.Solved767Views0likes4CommentsDropbox limits on zipped files preventing downloading as backup to external drive.
Have ~1.5 TB of files on Dropbox that I'm trying to backup to an external hard drive. My initial plan was to copy the local Dropbox folder from my PC to the external drive. However, I'd previously enabled DropBox's SmartSync, which effectively replaced local files with shortcuts to the files in the cloud (to free up disk space). I'm pretty sure that copying the directory will now only copy the shortcuts rather than the actual files located on the cloud, the latter of which I'd like to copy. To ensure that I copy the actual files to the external drive, I tried to download my entire Dropbox folder from the Dropbox.com site. This produced the error: "Attempted to zip too many files." This is puzzling sinceDropbox Basic has 100k file downloads and 20GB bandwidth limits, but as a Dropbox Plus user I should have 1TB of bandwidth and unlimited downloads. Even after trying to download a <1 TB-sized subdirectory, I still received the error. There also appear to be conflicting reports aboutdownload file number and size limits. Any ideas on how to download all of my data from Dropbox to an external disk? I don't even know what Dropbox's zip limits.8.5KViews1like7CommentsComments box bug: not showing comments, and disappearing.
Hi all, As recently as January 2024, the comment box when scrolling through documents has become really buggy, with the box disappearing, and entire comments disappearing. This is really concerning for teams that use uploaded scanned documents like receipts for accounting and tagging them for Xero. Any idea what's going on here? Happening for all users, all shared, all notifications are on.1.6KViews1like8Comments
