Dropbox Basic
211 TopicsEnd of support for OS X 10.4 and 10.5
Why pull support and remove functionality? Why not just drop support -- just stop updating the app but still allow basic functionality? There are still a lot of legacy machines that are still in use and CANNOT upgrade to 10.6, as they are PowerPC based. Yes, old systems still work. Why stop the app from working totally instead of just deprecating support for those systems?142KViews14likes281CommentsI can't open Word/Excel files on iPad/iPhone
Hi. I've searched the forum/web and can't seem to find any answer to this problem. Until a couple of weeks ago I could edit in all Office-files in Dropbox via both iPad and iPhone. Then earlier this week I suddenly can't do this, and I'm asked to log-in with a 365 subscription. Has there been a change I haven'r been awere of, and do I now have to have an active 365 subscription? I use Dropbox basic, and the files are .docx and .xlsx. Thank you for your time. Hi, I'm running Dropbox on Windows 10 and everything is basically working fine. Some time ago I noticed a new service called "Dbxsvc" running on my computer. It runs from a file named dbxsvc.exe in my Windows System32 folder. Is this some kind of malware or some new part of the Dropbox program? I know there are two otherdbxsvc.exe files on my computer. They are in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\driver_amd64\dbxsvc.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\driver_x86\dbxsvc.exe They seems legitimate. But this third one in System32 is the one running the "Dbxsvc"service. I've managed to shut downand delete the service and then delete the file itself. Dropbox still works just fine. The thing is, this file reappears randomly. So should I leave it or be worried about it? No other strange behavior on my pc and Windows Defender doesn't seem to have a problem with this file. If anyone can help, thanks!Solved51KViews0likes26CommentsDesktop access without syncing.
Hello. I see it mentioned a few times previously, but am wondering if there is any active development on a way to access Dropbox files from the desktop without either syncing or using the web app...basically as a file server. It sounds like this would be a common use case. I need to be able to save/print files from an application to Dropbox (for Business), but don't need the overhead of keeping those files locally and syncing them. Does anyone know if Dropbox has at least considered this kind of functionality? Thank you.Solved18KViews5likes22CommentsDropbox Location Change on MacOS 12.6
Just installed DropBox update v157.4.4808 on a MacbookPro 13,3 running MacOS 12.6. DropBox location was moved by installer to ~/library/CloudStorage and alias moved from "Favorites" to "Locations" in sidebar. DropBox support doc "https://help.dropbox.com/installs/macos-faqs" says new location due to change in MacOS. HOWEVER, installed same DropBox version on aniMac 18,3 running MacOS 12.6 and the location did not change! DropBox alias remains in "Favorites". Anyone else run across this discrepancy? Anyone have an idea as to cause of this discrepancy?Solved17KViews0likes72CommentsDropbox icon missing from menu bar on macOS Ventura

I had to do a restore of some of my Dropbox folders from time Machine. Dropbox is no longer showing in the Finder sidebar and its lo longer an option in sidebar preferences. I can view Dropbox in my user section, but it is greyed out and shows a green dot with a checkmark. I can open Dropbox by clicking the folder icon on the menu bar, it opens in finder and shows all my folders. How can I solve this?Solved17KViews0likes10CommentsMenu bar icon not appearing
I used to be a Basic member but am now a member of a Family Plan. I am not able to get the Dropbox icon on my menu bar on a new Mac - Monterey 12.01. I have quit and trashed the application and have reinstalled a couple of times, but nothing. I can't for the life of me get the icon on my Menu Bar. Does the Menu Bar have a space limitation? I would think not. Any help out there?Solved13KViews0likes20CommentsI'm having trouble exporting my files and folders from the Dropbox mobile app
I have always been able to select a folder or file and save/export it to my tablet. Now when I select a folder the save to device button is grey and cant be selected, and when I select a file, it takes me to an empty storage folder, cant find my sdcard, and the save button is greyed out. I am at my wits end and it is very frustrating to lose such a basic feature for seemingly no reason. anyone have any ideas?Solved13KViews1like4Comments
