Hi,
My company uses Dropbox (free and company versions) to share files with external people of the company. We would like to know if it's possible to hide the name and the email address of the members of the folder to the other members. And if it's not possible yet, I think it would be a good idea to improve Dropbox, don't you think?

Marc Mc and Richard P, you are being as blind and dismissive as Dropbox. I don't want to share a link! I need to share a large number of product files to my clients. If I share a link, they need to 1) remember and save the link somewhere, which is extra hassle on their part, and 2) re-check the link often to check for updates, which is even more hassle on their part.
Sharing the folder to their email means that they don't need to save a link somewhere, and they are notified when I make updates to the shared folder, which is ideal.
However, I don't want all of my clients to see each others names and emails - its ridiculous that this isn't implemented in the paid version and extremely arrogant to think that you or Dropbox know how we should be using it. - MarmaladerNew member | Level 2
I agree with cjm1982 and many earlier posts.
Blind sharing with a full visibility and granular control for the owner is the only sensible way forward.
It shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

Richard P. writes: A "shared folder" and a "shared link" are two entirely separate things - this thread is about "shared folders" not hiding a members details.
Is there anything in the recent Dropbox Plus announcements that would allow shared folders to hide a member's details?
The Adobe Acrobat Reader can access the files in a shared folder, and I don't believe that a shared link would work in the same way with the Adobe Reader. Thanks.

William J A. no there isnt.
Dropbox Plus is not a 'new' thing it is simply a rename of an old product (Pro).

It looks like this will be an incredibly useful and popular feature for many many users. If a user has not explicitly given permission for their email address to be shown to the dozens/hundreds of other members of a shared folder then they might be a bit surprised to see it happen!

Dropbox desperately needs this feature.

Please add this feature! @Dropbox

Any updates on this? I was hoping to use this service to share technical documentation with multiple dealers, which in many cases are direct competitors. While using a "shared link" is a possibility, I have concerns with security and managing access. As soon as I have one dealer I want to remove access to files, I would need to reset the link and/or password and have all my dealers update their records.

Please add this feature Dropbox. A shared link would not work for my purposes.

Hi,
I would like to add my comment as someone who also feels this is an important feature to be added.
It would be a very comfortable and safe way to share files, like many others here have mentioned, and it would be hassle free. Shared links are certainly functional and practical for people who need access to files or folders on occasion, but become increasingly annoying to use as the access becomes more frequent.
If you were to add another kind of permission that enables the person to view files and maybe even upload files, but disables viewing the folder's users, I believe that would suffice.
Users can be unfair and insensible at times, but they still are your clients, and you should not dismiss the community's feedback when it's constructive and could help improve your product.
Thank you for your attention!
