Creating your own thumbnails for videos
Hello,
Many users, including myself, would like to see a way to save a thumbnail of our choosing when we send a video link to a client, and without needing to purchase or rent any up-sell software. If it can be done with Vimeo, Youtube, and Frame IO, it can be done here on Dropbox too.
All too often I will share a link with a professional client for a video I've created, and the thumbnail image that opens up for the client is of the on-camera talent caught in an embarrassing pose with their mouth open and their eyes half closed.
Hello Dropbox, can this idea be turned into a reality? You need to help us users look more professional in the eyes of our clients. This is why we pay for the Dropbox service. To my fellow Dropbox users... if you agree with this please "like" it, or add to the thread.

I am with Dylan on this issue.
When working with professional video clients whos creative attention goes into every frame it is imperative to be able to select the Thumbnail.
I can do it with Frame.io, Vimeo, Youtube, etc etc ..
It is way past time for Dropbox to support its professional production creatives with this feature.
Your time and attention to this matter is valued and appreciated.

More support here for the idea. The video streaming feature is such an excellent part of the dropbox experience and it would be helpful to have some control over how the file presents.

I completely agree with this as well. I believe that this is a simple feature that Dropbox should be able to support. Selecting a thumbnail for a video just makes the entire process of sharing video links a lot more professional. The funny example @dhaveron provided is a reality and it just makes everything more awkward. If other video streaming companies can do this, why is Dropbox not meeting the same criteria? Please add this feature as soon as possible!

It is well about time that this was implemented. It's a basic need, not only for creatives.

Totally agree! The thumbnail must be in the control of the video creator!
It’s amateurish to have a random thumbnail and the improvement would encourage more people to upload their videos to dropbox.

Completely agree. It can actually be done on Dropbox replay but that doesn't translate into the file on regular Dropbox. This isn't rocket science, just a convenient professional way to put the best face on our videos when sending a link to them to someone else.

By this point 100s of people have written in on various threads like this dating back as far as 2018 to request that thumbnails be added to video links that we send to our clients.
I have reached the sad realization that Dropbox simply doesn't care about the comments we leave in these forums. They are simply placating us, and we are only talking to a wall.
The possibility of us being able to choose our own thumbnail when we send videos was the only reason that I had for continuing my Dropbox membership, but now that I realize that Dropbox simply doesn't care, and that this will never happen, I have finally cancelled my account.
So far the feeling is wonderful and freeing.
Thanks.

I've seen threads as far back as 2015. Almost 9 years! I'm not certain this is as easy an implementation as one would think, but I promise professionals would LOVE to have it.
